In Legg-Calvé-Perthes (L.C.P.) disease, histological and histochemical investigations have revealed, in the proximal epiphysis of the femur, areas of abnormal cartilage containing nutrient vessels for the ossific nucleus which appeared to be obliterated. The epiphyseal cartilage also exhibited different histochemical characteristics from normal cartilage and appeared to be more attenuated. We report the presence of peculiar nonbanded calcification of the cornea in three patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, discovered on postmortem histological examination of the globes. In one patient, multiple calcium salt precipitates also affected other ocular and orbital structures. Forty patients with colonic urinary diversions were studied for morphological and histochemical changes in the colon using haematoxylin and eosin, and high iron diamine alcian blue stains. BACKGROUND: Currently, the preoperative diagnosis of a pancreatic cyst is based on clinical and imaging findings, frequently in conjunction with chemical analysis of cyst fluid and cytologic evaluation. The purpose of these diagnostic tests is to distinguish benign from malignant cysts of the pancreas. Accordingly, it is imperative to distinguish pancreatic pseudocysts from their mimics. This study examined the effect of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) administration on the repair of articular cartilage damage in domestic pigs with experimentally induced leg weakness. The left hind stifle joints of six 56-day-old castrated domestic pigs were artificially injured; PRP was injected into the stifle joints of three pigs.
