OBJECTIVE: To determine if lymphadenectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy are associated with survival benefit among women with stage I uterine carcinosarcoma.
METHODS: Women with stage I uterine carcinosarcoma (n=5614) were identified from the 1998-2013 National Cancer Data Base. Kaplan-Meier survival estimates and Cox proportional-hazards regression models were used to evaluate predictors of overall survival. BACKGROUND: Endometrial carcinosarcoma (ECS) is a rare and highly aggressive malignancy, accounting for approximately 5% of all uterine cancers. While peritoneal seeding and pulmonary metastases are relatively common, breast involvement is exceedingly rare, with only a few cases reported in the literature, primarily involving the serous or clear cell subtypes and typically associated with widespread metastatic disease. To the best of our knowledge, this is the second documented case of a primary ECS metastasizing to the breast, and the first presenting as a solitary breast mass.

A 72-year-old man with a lung tumor admitted to our hospital for surgical treatment. Computed tomography (CT) revealed a mass in the right middle lobe extending to the truncus intermedius and the left main bronchus. The enucleation of the tumor in the left main bronchus was performed with a bronchoscope followed by right middle and lower lobectomy. From the bronchial stump, the residual tumor was observed in the bronchus and was able to be pulled out since there was no invasion of the tumor into the bronchial wall. Pathological diagnosis was pulmonary carcinosarcoma.
