To study complement function in mammalian leishmanioses, we developed mouse monoclonal antibodies to the human complement system components C1q, C4, factor D, factor H, factor B, properdin, C5 and C9. Antibody specificity was determined by indirect and capture ELISA and by Western blot. Serum immunoglobulins, complement and alpha 1-antitrypsin were assayed in forty-eight patients with chronic urticaria. The authors report three cases of adult papular acrodermatitis with circulating HBs antigen. The eruption was followed by a benign icteric hepatitis which lasted from 30 to 45 days. In two cases, HBs antigen disappeared in a one month period, in one case the antigen has been present for more than three months. The chemotactic activity and random motility of neutrophils, was studied in 38 patients with hypovitaminosis D rickets, and compared with 29 healthy controls of matched age.
