Molecular Structure, Theoretical NBO Analysis, Vibrational Spectrum of CO2-Responsive Hydroxyamidine-Based Ionic Liquid: A Combined Computational and Experimental Approach.

The utilization and chemical transformation of carbon dioxide remains a pressing problem in modern chemistry. Numerous experimental and theoretical studies have focused on the interaction of CO2 with amines. In this work, quantum chemical density functional theory (DFT) calculations of equilibrium geometries, energies, electronic and vibrational characteristics of CO2-sensitive mono-, di-, tris-hydroxyamidines and their associates were carried out by the B3LYP/6-31G(d, p) method. The harmonic vibrational frequencies were scaled and compared with the experimental FTIR spectra for supporting wav

Ex vivo and computational investigation of corneal iontophoresis to enhance penetration of high-molecular-weight compounds: a study using albumin as a model molecule.

Efficient ocular drug delivery remains a major challenge due to the strong barrier properties of the corneal epithelium and the rapid clearance of topically applied formulations. This limitation is particularly critical for hydrophilic and high-molecular-weight (HMW) therapeutics such as proteins and biologics. In this study, we investigated transcorneal iontophoresis as a strategy to enhance the delivery of HMW compounds using albumin (66 kDa) as a model macromolecule. Ex vivo rabbit corneas were exposed to iontophoretic currents ranging from 0.5 to 7 mA for clinically relevant conditions, wh

Supervised Machine-Based Learning and Computational Analysis to Reveal Unique Molecular Signatures Associated with Wound Healing and Fibrotic Outcomes to Lens Injury.

Posterior capsule opacification (PCO), a frequent complication of cataract surgery, arises from dysregulated wound healing and fibrotic transformation of residual lens epithelial cells. While transcriptomic and machine learning (ML) approaches have elucidated fibrosis-related pathways in other tissues, the molecular divergence between regenerative and fibrotic outcomes in the lens remains unclear. Here, we used an ex vivo chick lens injury model to simulate post-surgical conditions, collecting RNA from lenses undergoing either regenerative wound healing or fibrosis between days 1-3 post-injury

Harnessing thiazole chemistry for antifungal strategies through an experimental and computational chemistry approach: anti-biofilm, molecular docking, dynamics, and DFT analysis.

This study reports the design, synthesis, and evaluation of four novel (E)-2-(2-(1-(5-chlorothiophen-2-yl)ethylidene)hydrazineyl)-4-(aryl)thiazole derivatives (4a-4d) as potential anti-biofilm agents against Candida albicans. The compounds were structurally characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and HRMS spectral techniques. Biofilm inhibition assays revealed that derivatives 4a-4c suppressed over 50% of biofilm formation at a concentration of 12.5 μg mL-1, although exopolysaccharide production remained largely unaffected. Molecular docking indicated strong binding affinities toward lanoster

A Computational Study on Closed-Shell Molecular Hexafluorides MF6 (M=S, Se, Te, Po, Xe, Rn, Cr, Mo, W, U) - Molecular Structure, Anharmonic Frequency Calculations, and Prediction of the NdF6 Molecule.

Quantum chemical methods were used to study the molecular structure and anharmonic IR spectra of the experimentally known closed-shell molecular hexafluorides MF6 (M=S, Se, Te, Xe, Mo, W, U). First, the molecular structures and harmonic frequencies were investigated using Density Functional Theory (DFT) with all-electron basis sets and explicitly considering the influence of spin-orbit coupling. Second, anharmonic frequencies and IR intensities were calculated with the CCSD(T) coupled cluster method and compared, where available, with IR spectra recorded by us. These comparisons showed satisfa
