Luteal phase deficiency: effect of treatment on pregnancy rates.

Luteal phase deficiency is thought to be a cause of female infertility. Nevertheless, little agreement exists concerning either its diagnosis or its treatment. To address the latter question, we reviewed the English literature and examined the effect of treatment on pregnancy rates. One randomized controlled trial found a statistically insignificant benefit of treatment with progesterone suppositories or oral dehydroprogesterone versus no treatment (relative risk 1.9; 95% confidence interval 0.4 to 8.1). Three other comparative studies also showed no statistically significant benefit. Case-ser

A single session of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation of the prefrontal cortex reduces cue-induced craving in patients with gambling disorder.

BACKGROUND: Gambling disorder (GD) is common and disabling addictive disorder. In patients with substance use disorders, the application of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) over the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) offers promise to alleviate craving. We hypothesized that applying real compared to sham rTMS over the left DLPFC would reduce gambling craving in patients with GD. METHODS: In a randomized sham-controlled crossover design, 22 treatment-seeking patients with GD received real or sham treatment with high frequency rTMS over the left DLPFC followed a week late

Management of Impulse Control Disorders with Subthalamic Nucleus Deep Brain Stimulation in Parkinson's Disease.

Impulse Control Disorders (ICDs) and related disorders are common side effects of dopaminergic treatment in Parkinson's Disease (PD) and are associated with negative effects on mental and physical health, quality of life and interpersonal relationships. Current management options are limited, as a reduction of dopaminergic medication often leads to worsening of motor symptoms or dopamine agonist withdrawal syndrome. The aim of this review was to investigate if ICDs improve, worsen, or remain stable after Subthalamic Nucleus Deep Brain Stimulation (STN-DBS). We reviewed retrospective, prospecti
