The aim of this study was to investigate the presence of TcTV-2 in ticks collected from ecologically diverse regions of Türkiye. During the summers of 1982 and 1983, black-tailed prairie dogs (Cynomys ludovicianus) were examined for parasites. Those collected and their respective prevalence included Linognathoides cynomyis (46.3%), Opisocrostis hirsutus (53.7%), Opisocrostis tuberculatus cynomuris (2.4%), Androlaelaps fahrenholzi (12.2%), Ixodes sculptus (2.4%) and Dermacentor andersoni (4.9%). The collection data indicated that L. cynomyis, O. hirsutus and A. fahrenholzi were at low population densities during this period.

Information on Crimean haemorrhagic fever (CHF) in different climatic zones of the Krasnodar territory is presented. The epidemiological importance of some species of Ixodes ticks as vectors of the causative agent of CHF was shown. Ticks Hyalomma marginatum proved to be the main vector species: they constituted 75-100% of all ticks collected from cattle, reaching the peak of their abundance in May. This species was found to be more aggressive than Dermacentor marginatus.

Blood samples and ticks were collected from 100 shepherd dogs, 12 hunting dogs and 14 stray dogs in southern Hungary, in order to screen them for the presence of Hepatozoon spp. by PCR. In response to these concerns, a statewide surveillance program was initiated in 1990 based on ticks received by the Department of Entomology at Iowa State University.
