A 55-year-old woman underwent a partial breast resection in our hospital for breast cancer in May 2002. For adjuvant therapy, she received cyclophosphamide, pirarubicin and 5-FU infusion a total of 6 times, and anastrozole. Then, in May of 2004, an abnormal shadow was detected on her of chest X-ray. After CT scan we diagnosed multiple pulmonary metastasis of breast cancer. We used combination therapy of docetaxel 60 mg/m(2) and cyclophosphamide 500 mg/m(2). After 9 months, pulmonary metastasis disappeared on her CT scan. During chemotherapy, she showed no major side effect.

In the treatment of recurrent breast cancer in patients previously treated with anthracycline drugs, taxane drugs are generally used. This time, we retrospectively studied the safety of docetaxel/cyclophosphamide combination therapy (hereinafter referred to as TC therapy). A woman in her 30s with cervical cancer underwent postoperative chemotherapy and showed allergic reactions to multiple taxanes. As the patient had infusion reactions to both paclitaxel and docetaxel, a prick test with Cremophor was conducted. In the absence of an allergic reaction to etoposide, we determined that the patient was allergic to pure taxane compounds. BACKGROUND: This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of docetaxel combined with lobaplatin, relative to docetaxel combined with gemcitabine, for treating patients with recurrent metastatic breast cancer (rMBC).
METHODS: Patients with rMBC received ≥2 cycles (21 days each) of either docetaxel and lobaplatin (DL; n = 21), or docetaxel and gemcitabine (DG; n = 22). On day 1 of each cycle, all patients were given 75 mg/m intravenous docetaxel. BACKGROUND: Pulmonary toxicity is a well-known complication observed with several anticancer drugs. Docetaxel, a taxane chemotherapy drug widely used in the treatment of many types of solid tumors including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), rarely causes infiltrative pneumonitis. The exact mechanism by which docetaxel develops this side effect is not well understood; probably it is produced by type I and IV hypersensitivity responses.
