Severe dermatologic and mucosal adverse reactions to oseltamivir are rare. To date, only two other case reports have described mucosal changes secondary to oseltamivir, but both cases were associated with concomitant skin changes. We report a case of a previously healthy 18-year-old-male who developed oral-only erythema multiforme after being treated with oseltamivir for influenza B. Given the frequency of which oseltamivir is prescribed, we highlight the importance of recognizing this uncommon but serious adverse reaction.

Sorafenib, an oral chemotherapeutic agent used in the treatment of solid tumors, is associated with a variety of adverse cutaneous drug reactions in up to 90% of patients. Infrequently, delayed-type hypersensitivity reactions such as erythema multiforme occur. This case describes a child treated with sorafenib for a retrosternal desmoid tumor who developed widespread erythema multiforme across his extremities, trunk, face, and mucosal membranes.

BACKGROUND: A case of erythema multiforme associated with gemfibrozil monotherapy.
METHODS AND RESULTS: A 46-year-old man with hyperlipidemia was treated with 600 mg gemfibrozil twice a day. On the fifth day of treatment, skin lesions consistent with erythema multiforme appeared. With the discontinuation of the treatment and start of a topical steroid treatment, the lesions recovered after 4 weeks. Persistent erythema multiforme is a rare disorder with only 23 known cases reported in the literature. Persistent erythema multiforme has been reported in association with Epstein-Barr virus, herpes virus, hepatitis C virus, influenza, inflammatory bowel disease, and a variety of neoplasms. To our knowledge, this case is the first case of persistent erythema multiforme reported in association with cytomegalovirus infection.
