Injuries to the eye and its adnexa are common in head and neck trauma centers. An ophthalmologist experienced in ocular traumatology is not always available. Therefore, every emergency physician should be familiar with the basic evaluation, triage, and management of ocular trauma. Above all, the identification of a need for immediate treatment should be implemented in the algorithm of an emergency room, especially in a head and neck trauma center, to reduce the risk of a devastating loss of vision. This case report presents an extremely rare clinical case of a patient who presented with visual impairment, eye pain, and perforation. In this situation, an enucleation of the affected eye was performed, followed by a biopsy, which allowed the diagnosis to be established. From there, a multidisciplinary study was conducted to follow up and implement a definitive treatment.

Ocular trauma can be caused by road traffic accidents, falls, assaults, or work-related accidents. Maxillofacial trauma may cause eye injury besides fractures of the facial skeleton. However, evulsion of the globe is a rare event, and there are only a few reports of true total enucleation of the globes in the literature. We report a 23-year-old man who was a victim of motorcycle accident, with enucleation of the globe, evulsion of the septal cartilage, and midfacial fractures. We reviewed and discussed the literature of traumatic evulsion of the globes in maxillofacial traumas.

Indications of enucleation for uveal tumors were systematic in the past. They should become more adapted actually. Anterior limited uveal tumors, as in our two personal observations, should be an indication to realize a preservative treatment of the eye; the authors recommend the "block-excision" method, which allows: first, the ablation of the whole tumor and consequently the best possible prognosis, then, an anatomopathologic study which confirms the clinical diagnosis and avoids performing excessive enucleation in case of benign tumors as adenoma.

The authors reviewed in a retrospective manner 47 penetrating keratoplasties performed on 23 eyes of 21 patients with rheumatoid arthritis. A retrospective study was undertaken on 33 patients with bilateral retinoblastoma in whom one eye at least was classified as stage IV or V (Reese-Ellsworth classification).
