Food-related quality of life in adults with inflammatory bowel disease is associated with restrictive eating behaviour, disease activity and surgery: A prospective multicentre observational study.

BACKGROUND: Measuring food-related quality of life (FRQoL) quantifies the psychosocial impact of eating and drinking. FRQoL and associated factors are not well explored in people with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), despite IBD being a chronic disease affecting the digestive tract. The present study aimed to characterise and identify any patient or disease-related predictors of FRQoL in individuals with IBD. METHODS: Adults with a formal diagnosis of IBD were recruited to a prospective multicentre cross-sectional study between April 2018 and December 2019. Participants completed questionnai

Characteristics of supermarket-based interventions to improve the dietary quality and environmental sustainability of diets in people living with obesity, overweight, and/or food insecurity in high-income countries: a scoping review.

Food insecurity (FI), defined as unreliable access to healthy, nutritious food, is a major health concern in higher-income countries, primarily due to its association with an increased risk of obesity. Supermarket-based interventions may influence population-level food purchasing behaviour, an antecedent to consumption. It is unclear whether there are specific characteristics that these interventions should employ to resonate with vulnerable groups. This scoping review aimed to explore the characteristics of supermarket-based interventions that sought to support healthier and/or more environme

Metabolome and microbiome alterations related to short-term feeding of a micronutrient-fortified, high-quality legume protein-based food product to stunted school age children: A randomized controlled pilot trial.

BACKGROUND & AIMS: Stunting in children is a comorbid condition in undernutrition that may be ameliorated by the provision of high-quality foods that provide protein and micronutrients. Addressing this problem in lower social economic environments requires, in part, affordable and scalable food-based solutions with efficacious food products. Towards this end, biochemical/metabolic indicators for fast-throughput screening of foods and their components are desired. A highly acceptable and economical micronutrient-fortified food product with different levels of legume protein was provided to stun
