Association of the Triglyceride-Glucose Index with Systolic and Diastolic Blood Pressure Among Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

Background Hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) frequently coexist, substantially increasing cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Insulin resistance is a key mechanism linking these conditions. The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, derived from fasting triglyceride and glucose levels, has emerged as a simple surrogate marker of insulin resistance. While TyG has been associated with blood pressure in non‑diabetic populations, its relationship with systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) among patients with established T2DM remains less clearly defined. Glycemic control and prostate antigen levels in individuals with diabetes based on NHANES data.

The relationship between diabetes and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels is complex, with potential implications for prostate cancer screening. This study examined the association between glycemic control and total PSA (tPSA) levels in patients with diabetes. We analyzed data from the 2001-2010 NHANES to assess the relationship between glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and tPSA in adults with diabetes, categorizing HbA1c as < 7% (good glycemic control) or ≥ 7% (poor glycemic control). Multivariable regression models were used, adjusting for key demographic, clinical, and lifestyle factors, inclu

MYC mRNA expression throughout the intestine is not associated with body mass index or type 2 diabetes.

Inspired by the prospect of intestinal MYC reduction as a putative drug target against metabolic disorders, we investigated MYC mRNA expression in intestinal mucosa biopsies sampled using double-balloon enteroscopy along the entire intestinal tract of 12 patients with type 2 diabetes and 12 matched healthy controls. In these individuals with body mass index (BMI) ranging from 20 to 31 kg/m2 , the mean MYC mRNA expression varied along the intestine with the lowest level observed at the distal small intestine and the greatest expression levels in the proximal small intestine and in the colon. Golgin A7 family member B (GOLGA7B) is a plausible novel gene associating high glycaemic index diet with acne vulgaris.

While the IGF1/FoxO1/mTORC1 signalling pathway is a well-established nutrigenomic link between high glycaemic index (GI)/glycaemic load (GL) diet and acne vulgaris, other signalling pathways remain elusive. Therefore, we aimed to investigate other genes that are involved in the high GI/GL diet-acne link, using our Singapore/Malaysia population epidemiological, genomics and transcriptomics data. High GI/GL dietary habit of 3207 acne cases (1869 and 1341 further classified into severity and scarring grades, respectively) and 2521 controls were evaluated based on Quality of Diet based on Glycaemi

Glycemic Control and Utilization Risk With the Conversion of Glimepiride to Glipizide in Adults 64 Years and Older at an Integrated Health Care System.

BACKGROUND: Short-acting sulfonylureas are preferred over long-acting sulfonylureas due to reduced risk of hypoglycemia in older adults. Whether older patients can be transitioned from long-acting to short-acting sulfonylureas with equivalent glycemic control while experiencing fewer emergency department (ED) visits or hospitalizations due to hypoglycemia is unknown. We investigated whether the conversion of long-acting glimepiride to short-acting glipizide led to equivalent glycemic control and whether it was associated with reduced ED or hospital utilization. METHODS: We conducted a retrosp

The Usefulness of the Glucose Management Indicator in Evaluating the Quality of Glycemic Control in Patients with Type 1 Diabetes Using Continuous Glucose Monitoring Sensors: A Cross-Sectional, Multicenter Study.

The Glucose Management Indicator (GMI) is a biomarker of glycemic control which estimates hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) based on the average glycemia recorded by continuous glucose monitoring sensors (CGMS). The GMI provides an immediate overview of the patient's glycemic control, but it might be biased by the patient's sensor wear adherence or by the sensor's reading errors. This study aims to evaluate the GMI's performance in the assessment of glycemic control and to identify the factors leading to erroneous estimates. In this study, 147 patients with type 1 diabetes, users of CGMS, were enrolled.

Association Between the Triglyceride-to-HDL Cholesterol Ratio and Glycemic Control in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Real-World Retrospective Study.

Background and Objectives: The triglyceride-to-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (TG/HDL-C) is a simple lipid index associated with insulin resistance and atherogenic dyslipidemia. Previous evidence has supported the TG/HDL-C ratio as a simple surrogate marker of insulin resistance and an adverse metabolic profile. However, its relationship with glycemic control in real-world patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) remains uncertain. This study evaluated the association between the TG/HDL-C ratio and poor glycemic control in patients with T2DM. Materials and Methods: This retros
