We examined 91 patients (151 eyes) with primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) by pressure gonioscopy and studied the distribution and the morphology of peripheral anterior synechia (PAS). The incidence of the PAS were 85:7% in acute PACG, 47.1% in their fellow eyes and 86.6% in chronic PACG. The PAS in acute PACG were wider and taller than that of chronic PACG. The wide PAS were most common in the superior quadrant, and were more prevalent than the narrow PAS. The PAS as a whole was more frequently seen in the superior. A 39-year-old Caucasian man with bilateral narrow angles, a plateau-like iris configuration on gonioscopy and elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) presented with significant asymmetric glaucoma, left eye affected more than right. We present the rare case of an 18-year-old medically free male who had a history of decrease in vision in the left eye (LE) in the last 4 years. On examination, best-corrected visual acuity was 20/20 in the right eye (RE) and counting fingers 3 feet in the LE. Intraocular pressure was 34 and 40 mmHg in RE and LE, respectively. Fundus examination showed cupping of 0.7 on the RE and 0.9 on the LE. Gonioscopy revealed bilateral angle closure with a double-hump sign. Ultrasound biomicroscopy showed multiple ciliary body cysts replacing ciliary body sulcus space bilaterally.

A 71 year-old woman had 85% and 60% stenoses of the right and left internal carotid arteries, respectively. Right-sided endarterectomy was performed because of amaurosis fugax. Two days postoperatively, she developed classical symptoms and signs of acute glaucoma. We aimed to test the hypothesis that there is an association between hypothyroidism and primary open-angle glaucoma. A total of 60 patients with acquired hypothyroidism were evaluated by a senior ophthalmologist for evidence of glaucoma. Evaluations were carried out by history, tonometry, funduscopy, gonioscopy and visual field perimetry. Thyroid function tests, and dermatological and neurological examinations were performed. A 60-year-old man visited our clinic with a sudden blurred vision and ocular pain in his right eye occurring 15 years after cataract surgery. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of non-penetrating trabecular surgery (NPTS) with amniotic membrane implant in patients with juvenile glaucoma.
METHODS: NPTS with amniotic membrane implant was performed on 32 eyes of 26 patients with juvenile glaucoma aged between 12 approximately 28 years. Intraocular pressure (IOP) was measured pre- and post-operatively by CT-60 non-contact tonometer, intraocular irritations and the bleb appearances were recorded, and the anterior chamber angle of post-operation was observed by gonioscopy.
