Possible Sources of the Difference in the Severity of the Prior Information Effect on Polygraph Scoring Found in Three Published Studies.

The present article compares three CQT polygraph studies (Elaad et al., 1994; Ginton, 2019; Krapohl & Dutton, 2018), each indicating a different degree of the prior information effect in triggering confirmation bias while scoring polygraph examinations. The comparison led to the conclusion that the sample of the examiners who did the scoring in Krapohl and Dutton's study (2018) was a better representative of the examiners' population; however, the robust effect found in it is somewhat questionable since an unspecified part of it could be attributed to uncontrolled contamination of a conformity

Quantifying Cerebellar Signal Detectability in MEG and EEG in Epilepsy Using Anatomically Informed Source Modeling.

OBJECTIVE: The cerebellum is increasingly recognized as a key component of large-scale brain networks implicated in epilepsy, yet its electrophysiological characterization remains limited in noninvasive recordings. This limitation arises from the cerebellum's depth, complex folding, and unfavorable source orientations, which challenge conventional magnetoencephalography (MEG) and electroencephalography (EEG). Here, we quantitatively characterize cerebellar signal detectability across modalities and sensor configurations using anatomically informed source modeling at the population level. METH

Development of a decision aid to help dually enrolled veterans make informed choices on medication sourcing.

BACKGROUND: Veterans enrolled in both Veterans Affairs (VA) health care and Medicare Part D can choose to obtain medications through the VA, Medicare Part D, or both, with each option differing in cost, coverage, and coordination of care. Poorly informed choices can lead to veteran frustration when their expectations are not met, delays in medication access, and increased risks. This study aimed to develop a decision aid (DA) to help veterans with diabetes make informed choices about medication sourcing (ie, whether to fill medications through VA health care only, Part D only, or both). Optimization and effectiveness assessment of hydraulic fracturing target layers using multi-source information fusion.

With the rapid increase in mining depth, geological hazards such as large deformation of surrounding rock and rock burst have become increasingly severe. As a result, hydraulic fracturing has become an essential technique for pressure relief in surrounding rock. However, the complexity of underground geological conditions renders the selection of fracturing horizons critical, as it directly determines the actual effectiveness of hydraulic fracturing operations. To address this, this study introduces the pressure arch theory to reveal the dynamic evolution characteristics of the overlying strat

Comparing how information source and trust influence risk perception about Ebola in Ghana and Liberia.

The increasing occurrence of diseases across geographical borders creates a need to understand how information source preferences and trust in those sources influence risk perception across contexts. However, cross-context studies about information sources are not common in health communication and promotion scholarship. Using a survey, the research team compared how information sources, perceived usefulness of Ebola information, interpersonal and social trust and context influence risk perception and self-efficacy in an Ebola-affected (Liberia) and -unaffected (Ghana) country. Respondents fro…

The internet is parents' main source of information about psychiatric manifestations of 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (22q11.2DS).

With advances in laboratory technology, an increasing number of potentially pathogenic CNVs is recognised. The phenotypic effects of some CNVs are well characterised, however, it remains unclear how much information reaches the parents of affected children and by what route. The 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (del22q11.2) is caused by the deletion of approximately 40 genes from the long arm of chromosome 22 and was first described in 1955 [1]. Our study reports the extent to which parents of an affected child are aware of the various manifestation of the condition and describes how they first learn
