BACKGROUND: Various diseases are induced by allergic reactions to metals, among which nickel, cobalt, and chromium are representative examples.
OBJECTIVE: To investigate sensitization to these metals in Japan from April 1990 to March 2025.
METHODS: A total of 1985 patients were patch tested with nickel sulfate, cobalt chloride, and potassium dichromate. Reactions ranging between + and +++ by the International Contact Dermatitis Research Group scoring system at day 3 or 7 were regarded as positive.

Constipation is a complicated condition. Chronic constipation is diagnosed when constipation occurs for more than 3 months. Chronic constipation is classified using patient symptoms and the pathophysiology. New therapeutic agents to treat chronic constipation have recently been approved in Japan. However, treatments for constipation that is refractory to traditional laxatives have been approved, an algorithm for the treatment of chronic constipation has not yet been developed. The accumulation of knowledge and data is necessary to develop a new algorithm.

Severe adverse reactions in cats after vaccination were examined from 316 cases reported to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) in Japan during 15-year period from April 2004 to March 2019. We reported 865 cases of soil-transmitted nematodiasis occurring in Japan during 2000-2017. The predominant nematode was Strongyloides stercoralis (n = 279, 32.3% of all cases), and other species included Ascaris lumbricoides (30.7%), Trichuris trichiura (23.1%), and Ancylostomidae spp. (13.9%). Strongyloides stercoralis was detected primarily in patients in Okinawa and Kagoshima prefectures, which are in the south of Japan and are endemic areas for this parasitic infection, and also in about half of the prefectures of all Japan.
