Three sensitive and specific assays, the lateral flow assay (LFA), polymerase chain reaction assay (PCR) and reversed passive latex agglutination assay (RPLA), were selected for detection of staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB) from 77 clinical Staphylococcus aureus strains isolated from humans. Ferritin is an indispensable parameter in the diagnosis of latent iron deficiency anemia or siderosis. In this study, we evaluated the utility of a reagent for ferritin measurement in a latex agglutination (LA) test, using general chemistry analyzers. The authors examined 48 children of Helicobacter pylori positive parents: 52% were serologically positive for Helicobacter pylori using the Orion Diagnostics Pyloriset Latex agglutination test. The photometric latex test (PLT) for the detection of rheumatoid factors (RF), developed and clinically evaluated in adult rheumatoid arthritis, was applied in a study of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA). A total of 40 individuals with JRA, 27 with other collagen diseases and 24 in a control group were examined.
