Vulval tumours are rare, representing merely 4% of all gynaecological neoplasms. 98% of vulvar lesions are benign, and only 2% are malignant. Of all vulvar malignancies, while squamous cell carcinoma is the most common malignancy, leiomyosarcomas of the vulva are extremely rare. A 14-month-old feedlot steer was depressed and died while being examined. The gross post-mortem examination of the steer conducted at the feedlot identified numerous masses within the abdomen and thorax, including a large mass in the liver that eroded into the vena cava. Only 30 cases of myxoid leiomyosarcomas (MLMS) have been reported to date. The authors describe a further case in a 66-year-old woman. The main differential diagnoses include: myxoid inflammatory myofibroblastic tumours, mixoid leiomyoma, and endometrial stromal tumours. Surgery remains the appropriate treatment. However, in spite of an aggressive surgical approach and local and systemic control, recurrences and metastasis are frequent.

Primary leiomyosarcoma of the penis is a very rare tumour. Only 46 cases have been reported in the English medical literature. We are presenting this case of a 59-year-old patient with a ulceroproliferative growth in his penis. Histopathology was a high grade spindle cell sarcoma, which was proved by immunohistochemistry to be a leiomyosarcoma.

BACKGROUND: Hepatic leiomyosarcomas are rare soft-tissue tumours. The majority of lesions previously considered as leiomyosarcomas have been identified as gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GISTs). Consequently, understanding of the role of liver resection for true leiomyosarcoma is limited, a fact that is exacerbated by the increasing recognition of leiomyosarcoma subtypes. Leiomyosarcoma is a malignant tumor of smooth muscle cells that is exceedingly rare in the middle ear and temporal bone. Wide surgical resection is treatment of choice and adjuvant treatment has not proven to be of benefit. This is a report on a patient with otorrhea and rapidly growing mass on postauricualr area. A tumor that was mainly located in the middle ear and temporal bone was surgically removed and proved to be a leiomyosarcoma. The optimal surgical technique and other treatment strategy are discussed.

We report the case of a patient with a history of surgically treated pulmonary leiomyosarcoma, presenting with recurrent acute cholangitis and metastatic leiomyosarcoma of the common bile duct. Preoperative examinations had revealed a high grade malignant neoplasm and bilateral lung metastases. The patient underwent pylorus-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy and survived for 5.5 years after the first diagnosis.

We present the case of a 91-year old female, with no family history of malignancy, diagnosed with primary superficial leiomyosarcoma G1 of the scalp with frontal bone lysis and intracranial extension. The particularity of this case is the rarity of this tumor and the uncommon location. Also the bone involvement, present in our case, has been seen only in a reduced number of patients, approximately 10% of the cases.

Soft tissue sarcomas are rare malignant neoplasms (about 1% of all malignances). The leiomyosarcoma of the tongue is a very rare tumor with only 9 cases described in the literature. This article describes a case report of a primary leiomyosarcoma of the lateral border of the tongue treated with local excision that has been free of recurrence for 4 years. Also described in this article is a new technique to stabilize the tongue during surgery.
