[Perinephric myxoid pseudotumor of fat].

Myxoid pseudotumors rarely develop in the perirenal adipose tissue, they are incidental findings most commonly. Myxoid pseudotumors may mimic other benign and malignant tumors of this region; therefore, being aware of these lesions is particularly important for the pathologist. In our report, we present the case of a 38-year-old man who developed end-stage renal disease due to bilateral vesicoureteral reflux and left-sided hydronephrosis, for which renal allograft transplantation was performed. 19 years after the transplantation, graftectomy became necessary. During histological processing, in

Recurrent Intrathoracic Liposarcoma: A Case Report and a Comprehensive Literature Review of a Rare Clinical Entity.

Liposarcomas (LPSs) are rare malignant tumors of adipocytic origin, primarily occurring in the extremities and retroperitoneum, with thoracic involvement being exceptionally rare. This case report details the surgical management and outcomes of a recurrent intrathoracic LPS in a 65-year-old male with a history of previous mediastinal tumor resection. CT imaging revealed a recurrent tumor extending into the left pleura. The patient underwent a posterolateral thoracotomy for complete tumor excision and limited replacement of the descending aorta. Postoperative recovery was smooth, and histology

Myxoid Pseudotumor Involving the Renal Sinus: Clinicopathologic Study of 33 Cases Supporting a Distinct Benign Non-neoplastic Lesion.

We describe 33 cases of myxoid pseudotumor involving the renal sinus from 31 patients. Patients included 21 men and 10 women, ages 30 to 95 years. Twenty-seven cases (82%) had an associated malignancy, including urothelial carcinoma of the renal pelvis (22 cases), clear cell renal cell carcinoma (3 cases), urothelial carcinoma of the bladder (1 case), and poorly differentiated carcinoma of uncertain lineage (1 case). The remaining 6 (18%) had no associated malignancy and included 3 nephrectomies for ureteral stricture, 2 ureteropelvic junction repairs, and 1 resection of a "periureteral mass"

Treatment of Angiomyoblastoma in a Young Lady in Saudi Arabia: A Case Report : Angiomyoblastoma in a Young pLady in Saudi Arabia.

BACKGROUND: Background: Angiomyofibroblastoma (AMFB) is a rare, benign soft tissue tumor that belongs to the mesenchymal tumor category and affects the female genital tract. Aggressive angiomyxoma, a distinct stroma myxoedematous mesenchymal tumor with a significant risk of local recurrences, must be histomorphologically distinguished from AMFB. Radiography and histopathology are used for accurate diagnosis. The treatment depended on the complete surgical excision. CASE PRESENTATION: Case Presentation: Herein, we presented a case of a 36-year-old female (P3+0) presented with a left vaginal ma

Subclassification of pleomorphic sarcomas: How and why should we care?

Pleomorphic sarcomas are a heterogeneous group of mesenchymal neoplasms with widely varied clinical behavior but overlapping histologic appearances. The following guidelines are helpful when approaching the diagnosis of a pleomorphic sarcoma. (1) Be aware of the relative incidence of the various sarcoma types: several pleomorphic sarcomas are relatively common (e.g., dedifferentiated liposarcoma and undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma), whereas others are exceptionally rare. (2) Pay attention to anatomic location: some pleomorphic sarcomas have a predilection for somatic soft tissues, especia

Anesthetic management of the removal of a giant metastatic cardiac liposarcoma occupying right ventricle and pulmonary artery.

A 60 years old chinese male scheduled for a removal of an intracardiac mass occupying majority of right ventricular space, right ventricular outflow tract and pulmonary artery. The giant cardiac mass was later diagnosed pathologically as metastatic liposarcoma. The patient had a history of surgical removal of myxoid liposarcoma from his left thigh many years ago. It is extremely rare for liposarcoma to metastatize to right ventricle and pulmonary artery. The anesthetic management of the surgical procedure to remove this kind of intracardiac mass poses significant challenges to anesthesia provi

Retroperitoneal liposarcoma in older person - a rare case report.

Retroperitoneal sarcoma is relatively uncommon, constituting only 10-15 percent of all soft tissue sarcomas. The most common histologic types of RPS are liposarcoma and leiomyosarcoma. Retroperitoneal sarcoma is classified based on the amount of lipid inside the cells, the mucoid lipid and the degree of cell differentiation. It is classified into the well-differentiated, myxoid, round cell, pleomorphic and dedifferentiated types and the commonest is the pleomorphic type. Dedifferentiated liposarcomas are defined by the presence of sharply demarcated regions of non-lipogenic sarcomatous tissue

Establishment of a novel human dedifferentiated liposarcoma cell line, FU-DDLS-1: conventional and molecular cytogenetic characterization.

A number of human cell lines derived from well-differentiated, myxoid/round cell, or pleomorphic liposarcoma have been described. To our knowledge, however, no human cell line established from dedifferentiated liposarcoma has been reported. In this study, we established a new human cell line, FU-DDLS-1, which originated from a dedifferentiated liposarcoma arising in the retroperitoneum of a 61-year-old man. This cell line was characterized by immunocytochemistry, conventional banding analysis, fluorescence in situ hybridization with chromosome painting probe, and comparative genomic hybridizat

Myxoid Soft Tissue Tumors: A 20-Year Experience on Fine Needle Aspiration with Application of the Proposed WHO Reporting System for Soft Tissue Cytopathology.

INTRODUCTION: Myxoid soft tissue tumors represent a heterogenous group of neoplasms. The study presented our experience on cytopathology of myxoid soft tissue tumors on fine needle aspiration (FNA) and aimed to apply the recently proposed WHO system for reporting soft tissue cytopathology. MATERIAL AND METHODS: We performed a 20-year retrospective search of our archives to identify all FNAs performed on myxoid soft tissue lesions. All cases were reviewed, and the WHO reporting system was applied. RESULTS: 129 FNAs performed in 121 patients (62 males; 59 females) showed a prominent myxoid com

Mediastinal sarcomas: experience using fine needle aspiration cytopathology.

Fine needle aspiration (FNA) cytology is a sparsely used diagnostic method in the evaluation of mediastinal sarcomas in most medical centers worldwide with most literature citations regarding this category of malignancies consisting of small series and individual case reports. Most of these published studies highlight vascular sarcomas such as epithelioid hemangioendothelioma, and angiosarcoma, various subtypes of liposarcoma including well-differentiated liposarcoma, myxoid liposarcoma, and pleomorphic liposarcoma, malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor, and sarcomas of uncertain differentia…

Successful Re-resection for Locally Recurrent Retroperitoneal Liposarcoma at Four Years After Ex Vivo Tumor Resection and Autotransplantation of the Liver: A Case Report.

Surgical resection should be considered for isolated locally recurrent retroperitoneal liposarcomas. We experienced a case of successful re-resection for locally recurrent retroperitoneal liposarcomas 4 years after ex vivo tumor resection and autotransplantation of the liver. A 75-year-old man was admitted to our hospital. His diagnosis was local recurrence of liposarcomas. He had previously undergone ex vivo tumor resection and autologous orthotopic liver transplantation for a retroperitoneal tumor 4 years earlier. The resected tumor size was 23.5 × 15.5 × 12.5 cm. The tumor was revealed by m

Orbital Liposarcoma: A Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results Database Study.

PURPOSE: Orbital liposarcoma is a challenging tumor to treat due to its rarity and high rate of local recurrence, and the role of radiotherapy and chemotherapy remain unclear. Analysis of big data may improve our overall understanding of orbital disease and role of adjuvant therapies. METHODS: Data were extracted from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) Research Plus database from 1975 to 2017. All patients with a diagnosis of liposarcoma (ICD-O3 codes 8850-8858, 8869-8862, 8870, 8880, 8881) were included. Cases were divided into 4 groups by primary site: orbit, retroperiton

Dermal atypical lipomatous tumor/well-differentiated liposarcoma obfuscated by epidermal inclusion cyst: a wolf in sheep's clothing?

Epidermal inclusion cysts are an exceedingly common entity seldom seen in association with a malignant tumor. Herein, we report a unique case of an epithelial inclusion cyst seen in association with an atypical lipomatous tumor/well-differentiated liposarcoma. The epidermal inclusion cyst was delimited to the dermis and circumferentially enveloped by an atypical adipocyte tumor containing myxoid foci and comprised of lipoblasts. This case underscores the importance of scrutinizing the entirety of cysts and other ostensibly trivial dermal entities to avoid the pitfall of misdiagnosing a potenti

Pleural dedifferentiated liposarcoma: A case report.

The present case report describes a rare case of pleural liposarcoma. A 45-year-old Japanese man was hospitalized for increasing left chest pain. Imaging revealed a 10-cm pleural tumor and a 1.7-cm contralateral right pulmonary nodule. Biopsy specimens of the pleural tumor showed undifferentiated spindle-shaped and/or rounded sarcomatous features with myxoid stroma. The patient underwent embolization of the arteries feeding the left pleural tumor and palliative partial resection of the pleural tumor. The surgically removed specimens exhibited similar undifferentiated sarcomatous features. The

Liposarcoma of the oral and salivary gland region: a clinicopathologic study of 18 cases with emphasis on specific sites, morphologic subtypes, and clinical outcome.

Liposarcoma is rare in the oral and salivary gland region (OSG), previously described in only case reports and two small series. Clinicopathologic features of a large series of these tumors were studied. Cases coded as "liposarcoma or lipoma" from 1970 to 2000 were searched for in our files. Inclusion required an OSG location and diagnosis by established soft tissue criteria. Dermal, other soft tissue, and intraosseous liposarcomas were excluded. Clinical and pathologic material was reviewed and follow-up obtained. Eighteen liposarcomas were included: 10 from males and 8 from females. The medi

Primary mediastinal dedifferentiated liposarcoma: Five case reports and a review.

BACKGROUND: Liposarcoma has been subclassified histologically into well-differentiated, myxoid, pleomorphic, and dedifferentiated types. The dedifferentiated type generally shows poorer prognosis than the well-differentiated type. Because of its rarity, the clinicopathological features and clinical outcomes of primary mediastinal dedifferentiated liposarcoma remain unclear. METHODS: Five patients with primary mediastinal dedifferentiated liposarcoma were treated at Shinshu University Hospital between January 2012 and August 2017. We investigated the clinical characteristics, including age, ge
