Chylous ascites is an uncommon condition, which could be due to various causes. We report a case of gross chylous ascites in a patient with cirrhosis and portal vein thrombosis. It is confirmed that gross chylous ascites in a patient with cirrhosis and portal vein thrombosis heralds an ominous prognosis for the patient. Results also demonstrate that common therapeutic interventions confer minimal benefit to the patient, whose survival may be limited to a few months. Lymphoscintigraphy was performed in 209 patients with high-risk melanoma of the trunk referred to the Sydney Melanoma Unit and considered for lymph node dissection. Lymphoscintigraphy accurately defined the draining lymph node groups and was 94% sensitive in detecting draining sites that contained metastases. We describe the lymphoscintigraphy findings of a 25-year-old female patient who was undergoing presurgical workup for lymphangiomas of the vulva. She had a history of treatment for disseminated tuberculosis 6 years back and presented with herpetiform oozing vesicles in the external genitalia. Single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT) confirmed cutaneous tracer accumulation in the vulval lesions and demonstrated the presence of densely calcified inguinal nodes secondary to healed tuberculosis as the etiology of secondary lymphangioma.
