The pathogenic fungi associated with ear infection among 142 patients with clinical signs of otomycosis are reported. 76(54%) were positive for at least one organism. The isolates included: Aspergillus (63.2%), Candida (35.5%), and Mucor (0.7%). Lung infections caused by invasive filamentous fungi are very rare conditions in AIDS, but must be considered in patients with profound immune suppression especially in the presence of additional risk factors, such as hematologic malignancies, corticosteroid therapy, neutropenia, and chemotherapy. The authors report a case of dual lung infection caused by Aspergillus and Mucor, which occurred in a 34-year-old AIDS patient who was treated with chemotherapy for oral plasmablastic lymphoma. The case presented clinically with low grade fever and pulmonary cavitation, which suggested tuberculosis.

We report a case of cutaneous mucormycosis in a healthy, immunocompetent young girl (age 14 years). The patient had a 5-year history of a slowly enlarging, erythematous plaque with slight elevated, scaling, circinate borders on the right thigh. Histopathology showed a granulomatous infiltrate with broad, pale, non-septate hyphae. Mycological study identified Mucor hiemalis (Wehmer).

Hepatic mucormycosis is a rare condition. Our objective is to report a case in a HSCT patient and to perform a review of the literature. A 36-year-old man with acute myeloid leukemia, performed a haploidentical HSCT. In D+132, when treating acute GVHD with methylprednisolone and etanercept, a hepatic abscess was diagnosed.
