The distribution and morphological features of cardiac musculature in rat cranial venae cavae were examined by light and transmission electron microscopy. Cardiac myocytes are encountered from the right atrium to the root of the subclavian vein. The musculature consists of several well-developed circular or spiral myocyte layers. The impacts of WB myopathy on the physicochemical and myofibrillar functional characteristics of chicken breast fillets were examined in this study. WB myopathy significantly increased thickness and weight of the fillets. WB severity correlated with increased surface L* and b* values, elevated pH level, decreased a* value, and reduced water-holding capacity (P < 0.05). We evaluated the degeneration and regeneration of neuromuscular junctions (NMJs) on the extensor digitorum longus muscle of Fischer 344 rats between 4 h and 3 weeks after bupivacaine hydrochloride (BPVC) injection, which induces muscle fiber necrosis, using histochemical staining by acetylcholine esterase (AchE)-silver and electron microscopy. Degeneration of muscle fibers and NMJs was observed 4 h after BPVC injection.
