The alpha naphthyl acetate esterase (ANAE) cytochemical staining patterns were examined in 40 cases of acute myeloblastic leukaemia (AML: FAB groups M1 and M2) classified by morphological and immunological criteria. The authors have used histochemical techniques to identify lymphocytic infiltrations in the rheumatoid nodule. They used the technique of alpha-naphtyl-acetate esterase (ANAE) for macrophages, ANAE plus Sodium Fluoride (NaF) for T-lymphocytes and 5-nucleotidase for B-lymphocytes. The results of this study reveal that the lymphocytic component of the rheumatoid nodule is mostly B-lymphocytes.

Epidermal dendritic cells showing a diffuse activity of acid nonspecific esterase were observed in three cases of mycosis fungoides stage I.
