Eight cases of nasoalveolar cyst are reported; seven of these cases demonstrated radiographically identifiable changes. The literature is reviewed, and clinical and cytologic characteristics of the lesions are discussed. The importance of radiographs in the diagnosis of nasoalveolar cysts is emphasized.

The fact that numerous embryologic epithelial remnants are a normal occurrence in the oral region is well known. That some of these epithelial remnants occur within peripheral nerves is less well known. This study presents examples of intraneural epithelial rests from 3 different anatomic sites: the soft tissues of the jaws (a juxtaoral organ of Chievitz), the posterior maxilla (an ondotogenic rest), and the anterior maxilla (a nasopalatine duct remnant). The purpose of this paper is to draw the attention of surgical pathologists to this phenomenon in the head and neck in order to avoid extens

The patterns of cytokeratin expression in the epithelium of 5 dental follicles, 7 dentigerous cysts, 5 odontogenic keratocysts, 3 nasopalatine cysts and an epidermoid cyst have been studies using a panel of monoclonal antibodies. The epithelium of dental follicles and of developmental odontogenic cysts strongly expressed keratins 5 and 19 and showed weaker expression of keratins typical of stratified non-cornified and of simple epithelia. Staining with mAbs against the latter keratins varied with the degree of epithelial differentiation. Nasopalatine cysts strongly expressed simple epithelial

This study was conducted to present a comprehensive view of the most common head and neck pathologies among the pediatric and adolescent population of the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Data were collected from the oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) records at King Abdulaziz University Hospital and King Fahad Hospital Jeddah (KFHJ) from the period 1998 to 2009. All patients who were 18 years of age and younger were included in the study. Identified lesions were classified into four categories: cystic, neoplastic, vascular and fibro-osseous. OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS: Nasopalatine duct cysts are the most common cystic lesion of nonodontogenic origin of the maxilla. The purposes of the study were to review the epidemiology and clinical presentation, to describe the radiographic and pathological findings, and to discuss surgical management of this entity.
STUDY DESIGN: Case presentations of two patients with nasopalatine duct cysts at a tertiary care institution with a review of the English medical literature from January 1960 to the present.
METHODS: A 69-year-old man presented with an asymptomatic swelling of the premaxilla, and a 1

PURPOSE: This systematic review aimed to synthesize the available clinicopathological data on nasopalatine duct cyst (NPDC). METHODS: Electronic searches were performed in seven databases and the grey literature, according to the PRISMA 2020 statement. Risk of bias was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute critical appraisal tool. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics. RESULTS: A total of 168 studies comprising 2,734 NPDC cases were included. Most lesions were asymptomatic (n = 358/54.16%) and occurred in males (n = 1641/60.75%), with individuals in the fourth and fifth decade o
