Mucinous appendicular neoplasms are a rare and heterogeneous group of tumors, whose treatment may vary based on histologic features and extent. We present a case of low-grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasm mimicking an acute appendicitis scenario. The patient underwent appendectomy along with resection of the caecal fundus. Choosing the correct treatment according to the case by following current guidelines is crucial to avoid under- or overtreatment.

Endosalpingiosis is a benign condition characterized by the presence of tubal-type epithelial cells outside the Fallopian tube. It may rarely involve the uterus and present as a cystic or tumor-like mass. We report an unusual case of cystic uterine endosalpingiosis in a postmenopausal female with carcinoma endometrium. Preoperative and intraoperative diagnosis of this condition is challenging. Awareness about this condition in clinicians may help in preventing misdiagnosis and overtreatment.

Based on preterm and term infants studied by ultrasonography, and on anatomical sections of various gestational ages the physiological maturation of the hip joint is analysed. Current concepts of a linear growth pattern with an arrest immediately after delivery are confirmed. A more rapid growth and ossification of the acetabular edge than of the femoral head postpartum is suggested. To avoid overtreatment, knowledge of the normal range of development as seen in ultrasonography is mandatory.

Frailty is common among older adults admitted with multimorbidity and functional decline and has major implications for prognosis, treatment goals and quality of life. Systematic frailty assessment can support clinical and ethical decision-making, facilitate timely palliative care and prevent overtreatment. When combined with structured conversations about goals of care and interdisciplinary collaboration, this review finds, frailty assessment enables more person-centred and dignified care trajectories across sectors.

A case of isolated angiitis of the CNS was observed for 5 years. Initial response to cyclophosphamide was followed by relapse on therapy interruption. After renewed treatment, clinical stabilization was achieved despite progressive stenoses shown by angiography. The patient died of cyclophosphamide-induced myelodysplastic syndrome. Autopsy revealed lack of inflammation, vascular scarring, and amyloid angiopathy. We conclude that cure from isolated angiitis of the CNS is possible and that the risk of overtreatment should be minimized.
