OBJECTIVE: We evaluated agreement in diagnoses for bacterial vaginosis (BV), Trichomonas vaginalis (TV) and vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) between clinicians examining the patient and performing diagnostic tests versus a clinician with access only to the patient's history and diagnostic findings from self-obtained vaginal swabs (SOVS).
DESIGN: Women presenting with vaginal discharge to a sexually transmitted infections clinic provided SOVS for evaluation and completed the study and qualitative questionnaires. A clinician then obtained a history and performed speculum and bimanual examinations

Ankle sprain can lead to chronic ankle instability. Although radiologic imaging contributes to the diagnosis, the most critical step remains a thorough physical examination and patient history. This examination is also essential for identifying risk factors for surgical failure. A rigorous and complete clinical assessment is therefore mandatory before surgical indication. In this article, we describe our complete technique for physical examination of the ankle in the prone position for chronic ankle instability evaluation.

METHODS: In this prospective study, 86 children (46 boys (53.5%) and 40 girls (46.5%) were enrolled for postoperative clinical visit and for obtaining photographs of the tonsillar bed with a digital camera at clinic control.

Clinical forensic examinations performed at the Institute of Legal Medicine of the Hanover Medical School between 1999 and 2008 in cases of suspected physical abuse of children were analyzed retrospectively with special emphasis on the legal consequences.
