Prosocial lying supports children's social functioning, yet different types of prosocial lies may not follow the same group patterns. This study examined 7-, 9- and 11-year-old children's polite and altruistic lies towards ingroup and outgroup recipients and the role of theory of mind (ToM) in these behaviours. Polite lies showed a group-general pattern: children told them equally across group lines, independent of ToM. Cognitive behavioral therapies are widely used to treat a range of psychiatric and psychological problems, but the underlying assumptions and theories are firmly embedded in positivist and postpositivist ways of knowing, which privilege Eurocentric cultural perspectives. In this paper, we critically examine these underpinnings and offer multi-level recommendations for enhancing CBT's application to marginalized populations, with an emphasis on liberation and decolonial frameworks.

Previous work has shown that false information affects decision-making even after being corrected, a phenomenon known as "continued influence effects" (CIEs). Using mock social media posts about fictional political candidates, we observe robust within-participant CIEs: candidates targeted by corrected accusations are rated more poorly than candidates not targeted by allegations. BACKGROUND: Six billion people worldwide lack access to safe, timely, and affordable cardiac surgical and interventional care when needed. Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of mortality and morbidity around the world, and include a significant surgical backlog of rheumatic and congenital heart diseases. Here, we review the political commitment by the WHO, the UN, and the World Bank to build and strengthen healthcare services for cardiovascular diseases, with a particular focus on cardiac surgical and interventional cardiology services around the world.
