[Psoriasis and bullous dermatoses].

In the last five years we observed in Berlin seven cases of psoriasis vulgaris combined with bullous eruptions of the pemphigoid type. Exogenious factors provoking the bullous eruptions were sun exposure, photochemotherapy and treatment with dithranol. These factors did not cause contact allergy of type IV, but pemphigoid eruption which could be characterised by immunfluorescence. This, was accompanied in two cases with high numbers of eosinophils in tissue and blood. The results show similarities with the findings of Person and Rogers who have shown the manifestation of otherwise subclinical …

[The geographic distribution of psoriasis].

On the basis of data published in the literature the geographical distribution of psoriasis vulgaris is described. One of the most interesting results is the increase of the psoriasis frequency in countries such as Japan, Korea, Kazachstan and East Africa. This could be due to the fact, that altered life conditions in connection with an increasing industrialization favour the manifestation of psoriasis genes. How far population differences of the psoriasis frequencies are to be seen exclusively as genetical ones, is hitherto unclear, but rather unlikely. No relations between psoriasis and clim…

The HL-A system and psoriasis.

A study of 157 psoriatic patients showed that 48.4% were HL-A 17 positive (control 6.0%). The relative risk of psoriasis in HL-A 17 positive individuals (14.7) was significantly higher than that reported from other centes, whilst that for HL-A 13 was lower. HL-A 17 was commoner in femal patients and associated with an earlier age of onset of psoriasis than when HL-A 17 was absent. The earlier age of onset in females is largely due to the higher frequency of HL-A 17. Family studies show that often the ingeritance of HL-A 17 is a necessary condition for psoriasis to appear and this probably appl…

Hydroxychloroquine-induced inverse psoriasis.

A 65-year-old woman presented to our rheumatology clinic with pain and swelling of multiple joints of her hands. After a thorough evaluation, she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and was started on hydroxychloroquine therapy. A week later, she presented to our clinic with an acute condition and reported that after taking hydroxychloroquine for a few days she developed multiple rashes, most prominent at skin folds around her breasts, neck, axillae and buttocks. The rashes were characteristic of inverse psoriasis. Hydroxychloroquine was discontinued and the patient was started on methotre…

Napkin psoriasis--case report.

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease that can affect up to 1% of children. We present the case of a 4-month-old infant, born at term, naturally, weight and height within the normal range, who was brought to the Dermatology Clinic for the occurrence of erythem…

Psoriatic arthritis sine psoriasis.

In about 20% of patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA) the rheumatological manifestations precede the onset of the cutaneous lesions. If there is a family history of psoriasis these patients are diagnosed as having psoriatic arthritis sine psoriasis. In the past, they were also classified among patients with undifferentiated spondyloarthritis. The clinical spectrum of PsA sine psoriasis is wide and identified by dactylitis and/or distal interphalangeal arthritis, HLA-Cw6, and a family history of psoriasis. The ClASiffication of Psoriatic ARthritis (CASPAR) criteria of PsA include PsA sine pso…
