Status epilepticus (SE) is a frequent neurological emergency with an annual incidence of 10-20/100,000 individuals. The overall mortality is about 10-20%. Patients present with long-lasting fits or series of epileptic seizures or extended stupor and coma. Furthermore, patients with SE can suffer from a number of systemic complications possibly also due to side effects of the medical treatment. We studied the influence of the type of surgery (microsurgery or macrosurgery) and extent (complete resection with lobectomy, complete resection alone, partial resection with lobectomy or partial resection alone) on early postoperative results and survival time in 118 consecutive patients who underwent surgery for glioblastoma multiforme. An international survey was conducted of 55 epilepsy surgery programs (from 10 countries) that conduct the Intracarotid Sodium Amytal Procedure (IAP). Respondents reported large differences in the prevalence of mixed speech dominance (MSD) in their patient populations. These differences are shown to be due in part to disagreement about the criteria for the demonstration of speech production from the non-speech-dominant hemisphere. OBJECTIVE: To describe the clinical features, etiology, findings from neuroimaging, and treatment results in a series of 29 patients with Holmes tremor (HT).
METHODS: A retrospective study was performed based on review of medical records and videos of patients with HT diagnosis.

BACKGROUND: Focal status epilepticus and catastrophic epilepsy are not rare in infants. Epilepsy surgery can be safely done in selected infants to cure epilepsy.

A 70-year-old right-handed woman developed a complete Klüver-Bucy syndrome including psychic blindness, aberrant sexual behavior, hypermetamorphosis, aphasia and visual agnosia following left anterior temporal lobectomy for an anaplasic oligodendroglioma. MRI showed no argument for a contralateral ischemic infarct, tumoral growth or white matter damage. Thus the possibility that a unilateral anterior temporal lesion can cause the whole picture of Klüver-Bucy syndrome must therefore be considered.
