[Extensive metastases of Ewing's sarcoma in the adreno-renal area].

The authors refer to the observation of 43 years old woman with Ewing's sarcoma of the pelvic region, who displayed, a year after local extirpation of the tumour, clinically and radiographically, a metastasis in the adrenal-renal region. The patient died due to generalization of the tumour during the next year after an attempt to remove the metastasis, where a radical intervention proved impossible. Metastases of malignant tumours of locomotor apparatus into this region proved to be rare and such is the observation of the extensive affection in the Ewing's sarcoma.

Classic Ewing Sarcoma of the Ankle With Ewing Sarcoma RNA-Binding Protein 1-Friend Leukemia Integration 1 (EWSR1/FLI1) Fusion: A Case Report and Review of Diagnostic Considerations.

Ewing sarcoma (ES) is a malignant small round blue cell tumor most frequently arising in the long bones of adolescents and young adults, characterized by a translocation involving the Ewing sarcoma RNA-binding protein 1 (EWSR1) gene, most commonly the EWSR1/friend leukemia integration 1 (FLI1) fusion. We report a case of a 26-year-old man with left ankle pain found to have an extraosseous soft tissue mass surrounding the calcaneus. Histopathology revealed a highly cellular neoplasm of uniform small round blue cells arranged in sheets and nests, immunoreactive for cluster of differentiation 99

A Unique Case of Gross Hematuria in a Patient With Ewing Sarcoma.

The standard therapy for Ewing sarcoma, the second most common bone tumor in children, includes alkylating agents such as ifosfamide and cyclophosphamide. One common adverse side effect of such agents is hemorrhagic cystitis, which typically presents with hematuria. We present the case of a patient with Ewing sarcoma who developed persistent gross hematuria followed by severe acute kidney injury while receiving chemotherapy. After interdisciplinary evaluation, including renal biopsy and assessment for lupus nephritis, a unique underlying diagnosis of immune-complex glomerulonephritis was deter

Unveiling the Uncommon: A Case of Metastatic Ewing Sarcoma of the Kidney.

Primary Ewing sarcoma of the kidney (ESK) is a rare and aggressive entity, with a poor prognosis. It often presents as metastatic disease with the lungs being the most common site. In adults, the occurrence of these tumors is uncommon, with patients exhibiting non-specific symptoms such as weight loss, flank pain, hematuria, and an abdominal mass. The combination of these vague clinical symptoms and the rarity of these tumors often results in a delayed diagnosis, leading to poorer outcomes for these patients. We present a case of a 38-year-old female with metastatic ESK. The patient initially

Parotid Ewing's sarcoma: Extra-skeletal uncommon condition.

INTRODUCTION: The parotid gland is a very rare location of Ewing's sarcoma. Its clinical and radiological manifestations are atypical. Its management is based on a multidisciplinary approach to improve prognosis and survival. DISCUSSION: The diagnosis of parotid Ewing's sarcoma is determined by a combination of genetic and histological criteria. Its local aggressiveness and high metastatic potential require prompt and appropriate management. Many prognostic features affect its management, the most important is the TNM staging. CONCLUSION: Limited cases of parotid Ewing's sarcoma have been pu

Primary Ewing's Sarcoma of Maxillary sinus: A Case Report.

Ewing's sarcoma are small round cell tumors belonging to Ewing's family of tumors and the second most common bone tumor seen in children. The most common affected sites are long bones of extremities followed by pelvis and ribs. Primary arising in head and neck region is uncommon and maxillary Ewing's sarcoma is rarely seen. Histologically it is one of many small round cell tumors found in children and therefore immunohistochemical and occasionally molecular studies are required to establish the diagnosis. Imaging features include aggressive bony destruction with periosteal reaction and associa

Ewing's sarcoma of the cervix: A case report and review of literature.

Ewing's sarcoma (ES) is a small cell malignant tumor that occurs in the bone of children or adolescents. ES can also occur in extraskeletal organs, such as the pancreas, thyroid, liver, proximal phalanx, and, rarely, cervix. Only 15 published case reports have discussed ES arising in the cervix. We report a 76-year-old woman who had groin mass. ES was diagnosed in accordance with morphological and immunohistochemical maps. Fluorescence in situ hybridization and RT-PCR (reverse transcription PCR) revealed ESWR1 gene rearrangement and fusion gene formation (EWS-FLI-1), both of which confirmed th

Extraskeletal Ewing's Sarcoma of Neck in a Child- A Case Report.

INTRODUCTION: Ewing's sarcoma (ES) is an extremely rare bone malignancy observed in otorhinolaryngeal practice. In otorhinolaryngology, it sometimes involves the facial bones and cervical vertebrae. In children, ES is the second most common primary malignancy of bone after osteosarcoma. Extraskeletal Ewing's sarcoma (EES) is an extremely rare malignancy of mesenchymal cell origin. The EES is observed in the trunk and lower extremities. The neck is an extremely rare primary site for EES. CASE REPORT: A 3-year-old female child referred with a rapidly enlarging right-sided neck swelling since 2

[Primary Ewing's sarcoma of the temporal bone: a rare case].

SummaryEwing's sarcoma is a malignant, round cell tumor arising from the bones and primarily affecting children and adolescent. Involvement of the skull bones is rarely reported, constituting 1%-6% of the total Ewing's sarcoma cases. We describe a 33 years old male patient having Ewing sarcoma of the mastoid and petrous parts of temporal bone, whose clinical presentation mimicked mastoiditis with facial nerve palsy. We discuss the clinical and therapeutic course of an extensive primary Ewing sarcoma of the temporal bone and review this entity's literature in detail. The etiopathology of an acu

Ewing's Sarcoma/Peripheral Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumors in Bronchus.

Ewing sarcoma/peripheral primitive neuroectodermal tumors (ES/pPNET), a member of the Ewing sarcoma family of tumors, is a malignant soft tissue tumor with small undifferentiated neuroectodermal cells. Primary trachea-bronchial ES/pPNET is very rare. The most common pulmonary ES is due to a metastasis. We describe a case of ES/pPNET which originated in the left basal trunk bronchus. The patient was a 30-year-old male, presenting with irritable cough and fever for 10 days. A tumor of 60 mm in diameter was found in the left basal trunk bronchus, extending to the left lower lobe. No distant metas

Diagnosis and treatment of Ewing sarcoma of the bone: a review article.

Ewing sarcoma (ES) is rare in Japanese people, and only 30-40 patients develop the disease annually. To diagnose ES, molecular techniques that aim to detect characteristic fusion genes are commonly used in combination with conventional histological and immunohistochemical examinations. The treatment strategy for ES is characterized by multi-disciplinary collaboration between pediatric oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and orthopedic surgeons. In recent years, numerous large-scale national or international multi-institutional studies of ES have been performed. Pre- and po

Ewing's sarcoma of the larynx. Effective treatment with organ preservation.

Extraskeletal Ewing's sarcoma arising in the head and neck region is an extremely rare malignant neoplasm. We describe the unusual case of a tumor originating in the larynx of a 68-year-old male with hoarseness and occasional aphonia. We report successful treatment with sequential chemo- and radiotherapy. Complete regression and larynx preservation with voice function recovery was achieved. To our knowledge, this is the first report of this type of tumor in the larynx with cartilage invasion that documents the effectiveness of radiotherapy as an alternative to surgical management. At present,

Primary Ewing's sarcoma of the spine presenting as acute paraplegia.

Ewing's sarcoma is a primary bone malignancy with the highest incidence in the second decade of life. Although it mostly affects the metaphyseal region of long growing bones, involvement of spine is not very uncommon especially the sacrum. Nonsacral spinal Ewing's sarcoma is rarer and often mimics a benign condition before spreading extensively. They present with neurologic deficits due to spinal cord compression, but acute onset paraplegia has not been previously reported. A high index of clinical suspicion can clinch the diagnosis early in the course of the disease. A prompt intervention is

Ewing's sarcoma family of tumors originating in the main bronchus.

Ewing's sarcoma family tumors (ESFT), which include Ewing's sarcoma and primitive neuroectodermal tumors (PNET), have been reported to originate in a variety of sites, mostly in the extremities. Previous reports have shown ESFT originating in the thoracic region, such as chest wall and peripheral lung. We herein report the first case of the ESFT that originated in the main bronchus. Endobronchial snare resection was followed by five courses of chemotherapy (VDC-IE; including vincristine, doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide, ifosfamide and etoposide) and sequential radiation. After the treatment, the

Rare case of extraskeletal Ewings sarcoma of the sinonasal tract.

Ewings sarcoma (ES) and primitive neuroectodermal tumor are closely related family of small round cell tumors seen in childhood and adolescence. The incidence of these tumors occurring in the head and neck region is just 2-7%. Mandible and maxilla are the most common sites, whereas involvement of the sinonasal tract is very rare. We report a case of extraskeletal ES of the sinonasal tract in a 29-year-old female who presented with nasal obstruction and epistaxis. The patient was treated with 14 cycles of chemotherapy, combined with surgery and radiotherapy with complete recovery. We present th

Karyomegalic-like nephropathy, Ewing's sarcoma and ifosfamide therapy.

Karyomegalic interstitial nephropathy has been reported as a rare interstitial nephritis in adult patients. Histology shows atypical epithelial cells and large abnormal hyperchromatic nuclei with irregular outlines. We report 3 adolescent patients who all recovered from their initial treatment for Ewing's sarcoma but developed a tubulopathy attributed to ifosfamide therapy. Renal impairment resulted in biopsy, which showed features of karyomegalic nephropathy in all 3. One patient has progressed to haemodialysis. Recognition of the pathology may be important in similar patients. It is surmised

[Renal artery stenosis after radiotherapy for Ewing's sarcoma].

BACKGROUND: The fact that therapeutic irradiation can induce significant stenosis in the arteries of the head, neck, and chest, as well as in the aorta and the iliac arteries, is familiar in daily practice and well documented in the literature. By contrast, radiation-induced renal artery stenosis seems to be a less widely known complication. PATIENTS AND METHODS: The sudden onset of medically refractory arterial hypertension and coma in a 27-year-old man is reported, who had been treated at age 20 with chemotherapy and radiotherapy for Ewing's sarcoma in the lumbar region. This treatment had
