Myeloid sarcoma is an extramedullary tumor that consists of myeloblasts or immature myeloid cells. The neoplasm can occur in any part of the body, including the bone, periosteum, lymph nodes, skin, and soft tissue and they may occur de novo or in association with acute myeloid leukemia, myeloproliferative neoplasms and myelodysplastic syndromes. Most cases display a myelomonocytic or pure monoblastic morphology. Tumors with megakaryoblastic differentiation are extremely uncommon and may occur in association with transformation of a myeloproliferative disorder. Myeloid sarcoma presenting as a b

BACKGROUND Myeloid sarcoma is a rare extramedullary soft tissue neoplasm composed of myeloblastic cells, usually associated to hematologic tumor disorders and a poor prognosis. Its diagnosis is very difficult as radiological images are not specific. Histology and immunohistochemistry are necessary for an accurate diagnosis. CASE REPORT We report the case of 46-year-old, Caucasian, non-smoker male, treated in 2014 by orchiectomy and systemic chemotherapy for a stage IIB testicular seminoma. Considering the rapid increase of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels without any evident medical reason,

Granulocytic sarcoma is an extramedullary tumour consisting of malignant granulocytic precursor cells that is common among children with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). We report a case of orbital granulocytic sarcoma in an adult with relapsed undifferentiated AML-M0. It presented as bilateral medial canthal swellings. An incisional biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of granulocytic sarcoma. The swelling resolved with re-induction chemotherapy.

We present a rare case of intracardiac myeloid sarcoma (MS) of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and who responds completely well to low-dose radiotherapy. This 19-year-old young man initially presented with AML and received standard chemotherapy followed by allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). However, he developed intracardiac isolated MS relapse with the presentation of exertional dyspnea and superior vena cava (SVC) syndrome 3 years later. He then received radiotherapy with 24 Gy at a 12 daily fractions using forward "field in field" intensity modulated radiotherapy techni

The purpose of this report is to present a case of myeloid sarcoma of the gingiva with myelodysplastic syndrome.A 52-year-old male diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome with skin lesions presented with gingival swelling and gingival redness involving the maxillary left second premolar and the maxillary left first molar. The patient was referred from the Department of Hematology for a biopsy of the lesion. Full-thickness flaps were elevated and inflamed, and neoplastic soft tissue was removed from a lesion and the samples sent for histopathologic analysis.Histopathologic results showed leukem

Myeloid Sarcoma is a rare tumor composed of myeloblasts occurring at an extramedullary site like bones, or various soft tissues. Myeloid sarcoma may involve the gastrointestinal tract very rarely either solitarily, or occurring simultaneously with acute myeloid leukemia. Its diagnosis is challenging and needs biopsy and immunohistochemical staining. We are describing a case of myeloid sarcoma which presented as a painful anal ulcer mimicking an atypical fissure. Its appearance resembled crohn's disease on sigmoidoscopy. A biopsy of the ulcer along with histochemical staining led to the diagnos

Myeloid sarcomas are rare extramedullary tumors composed of immature myeloid cells. Most cases are seen in childhood acute myelogenous leukemia (AML). They can develop at many sites, but cardiac involvement is a rare finding. We report the case of a 24-year-old woman who, after being in remission from AML for 10 years, developed an isolated cardiac myeloid sarcoma.

Granulocytic sarcoma (GS) is extramedullary tumor composed of immature leukemic cells. GS is presenting usually as a complication during the course of hematologic neoplasm, such as acute myeloblastic leukemia as well as myeloproliferative and myelodysplastic syndrome. The tumor was also called chroloma based on the green color of the tumorous mass. Central nervous system manifestations of GS are extremely rare. We report a 41-year-old man with acute leukemia type M7, who developed GS in the right occipital lobe after complete remission was achieved. Operative findings revealed the color of the

A 54 years old patient with Ph' negative chronic granulocytic leukaemia is reported, who presented rapidly progressive multiple cranial nerve palsies. A cerebral CT scan showed an invasive tumoral disease on the base of skull. Histologic examination of this mass was diagnostic for granulocytic sarcoma, which was the presentation form of an extramedullary blastic crisis. The general characteristics of granulocytic sarcoma are commented, special attention being paid to its appearance in the course of chronic granulocytic leukaemia.

Myeloid sarcoma (MS) is an extramedullary manifestation of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) that may occur de novo, precede, or accompany AML. Hepatic involvement is rare and poses a diagnostic challenge. We report a 65-year-old man presenting with progressive abdominal distension, massive ascites, and constitutional symptoms. Initial laboratory tests revealed bicytopenia, leukocytosis, circulating immature granulocytes, and a cholestatic pattern on liver function tests. Imaging showed homogeneous hepatomegaly with large-volume ascites. Liver biopsy demonstrated diffuse infiltration by immature my

Myeloid sarcoma, an aggressive extramedullary subtype of acute myeloid leukemia (AML), occurs in ∼10% of patients, and has not yet been included in large-scale genomic studies. The critical biological changes that drive tumor evolution are unknown, its detection in asymptomatic patients remains a clinical challenge, and treatment options are limited as patients are often excluded from clinical trials, rendering it a neglected disease entity. Based on comprehensive multi-omic profiling, we demonstrate that myeloid sarcoma evolves from medullary AML with distinct sitespecific clonal evolution pa

BACKGROUND: Myeloid sarcoma (MS) is a rare extramedullary tumor composed of immature myeloid cells, most commonly associated with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Although it typically occurs in the skin, lymph nodes, bone, and soft tissue, breast involvement is extremely uncommon and may mimic breast carcinoma or lymphoma.
CASE REPORT: A 34-year-old woman presented with a left breast mass initially suspected to be carcinoma. Histopathological and immunohistochemical analyses confirmed myeloid sarcoma, with no evidence of systemic involvement. The patient achieved complete remission after AML-ba

Myeloid sarcoma (MS) is considered as an extramedullary manifestation of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with or without concurrent AML. It can present at any age and any site, however, nasopharynx being an extremely rare site of manifestation. MS may precede AML by weeks, months or years, thereby necessitating an early diagnosis and timely intervention and treatment. We report a case of MS in a young female who presented with nasal obstruction and epistaxis for 3 months. The present case also highlights the significance of judicious use of immunohistochemistry panel while dealing with a hematoly

Myeloid sarcoma, also known as chloroma or granulocytic sarcoma is an extramedullary disease process that typically presents in association with acute myeloid leukemia during initial presentation or at relapse. Often associated with cytogenetic mutations, including t(8;21)(q22;q22); RUNX1/RUNX1T1, and less frequently with inv(16)(p13.1q22) or t(16;16)(p13.1;q22); CBFB/MYH11, myeloid sarcoma is most commonly discovered in skin, soft tissue, bone, and connective tissue. In rare circumstances, myeloid sarcoma can present without any evidence of bone marrow or leukemic involvement. These cases of

BACKGROUND: Myeloid sarcoma is a solid tumor that consists of immature myeloid cells occurring at an extramedullary site. It can present before, concurrent with, or after the diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia or other myeloproliferative diseases, and a proportion of patients never develop bone marrow infiltration. Only a few isolated cases of pediatric orbital myeloid sarcoma have been reported, and they are often associated with a high misdiagnosis rate.
CASE REPORT: We report a rare case of pediatric orbital myeloid sarcoma associated with blunt trauma in a 3-year-old Caucasian male patie

Myeloid sarcoma (MS) in the setting of concomitant medullary AML is relatively well described, while much less is known about patients presenting with MS with <20% bone marrow blasts. We conducted a retrospective analysis of 56 patients with MS with <20% marrow blasts seen at MD Anderson between 2005 and 2020. The prevalence of MS without medullary AML was 1.4% among all newly diagnosed AML patients. The majority (75%) of patients had a single known anatomic site involved, with the skin (34%) being the most frequent. The most common histologic subtype was monocytic, and 11% of patients had a k
