This case of ectopic testis highlights the importance of a thorough first newborn examination followed by senior review when appropriate, and the expertise required to interpret neonatal ultrasounds. BACKGROUND: Abscesses are one of many complications of diverticulitis and can be found intra-abdominally or in the pelvis.
METHODS: Case report and review of the pertinent English-language literature.
RESULTS: We describe an unusual presentation of a diverticular abscess, tracking down the inguinal canal and causing acute scrotum possibly secondary to a hernia.
CONCLUSION: A deviation from the usual clinical presentation of diverticulitis should prompt the physician to obtain further radiologic evaluation. Computed tomography scanning is recommended, especially when an abscess is suspected.

OBJECTIVE: To report a case of testicular tumor, classified as seminoma, with a very uncommon form of presentation since it presented as acute scrotum.
METHODS: The clinical features, treatment and outcome of this uncommon condition are presented.
RESULTS: A review of the literature showed that this form of presentation is rare although in the present case it is impossible to determine if testicular inflammation was due to tumor necrosis or infection from the associated hydrocele.
CONCLUSIONS: Testicular tumor should be considered in all male patients aged 20 to 35 years with acute scrotum.

Acute scrotum is a condition which often causes diagnostic difficulties despite all the available investigation methods. Ruling out or confirming torsion of the testis is the main problem in most cases. Other more rare conditions, however, need acute exploration such as illustrated in this case report, where the sudden bleeding in a testicular neoplasm caused severe acute symptoms. The tumor may not necessarily be clearly apparent during surgery. Peroperative analysis of a specimen of testis tissue is therefore recommended in such cases.

Point of care ultrasound (POCUS) is a helpful tool for supporting the development of a differential diagnosis for testicular and scrotal pain. It can aid in the diagnosis of critical conditions such as Fournier's Gangrene and testicular torsion. In this case, we describe a 39-year-old man who presented for testicular pain and scrotal swelling who had findings concerning for testicular and epididymal gas on POCUS. This correlated with our computed tomography (CT) findings which were consistent with emphysematous epididymo-orchitis.
