This report describes the clinical, morphological and immunohistochemical findings in an adult cow with cerebral oligodendroglioma. The tumour extended from the metencephalon to the telencephalon, with infiltration of the meninges. Immunohistochemically, the tumour cells lacked expression of a specific tumour antigen, were partially positive for S-100 and tau protein, and were negative for a range of antigens including glial fibrillary acid protein, neuron-specific enolase, myelin basic protein and synaptophysin. A 62-year-old woman presented with a rare case of subependymoma associated with prominent Rosenthal fibers located in the left lateral ventricle manifesting as right hemiparesis and mild motor aphasia. The tumor was well demarcated and consisted of clusters of round nuclei embedded in an abundant gliofibrillary matrix with some microcysts and prominent Rosenthal fibers. Immunohistochemically, the tumor stained positively for glial fibrillary acidic protein and negatively for synaptophysin. This case of subependymoma containing Rosenthal fiber formation is very unusual.

A 61-year-old man, with an 8-year history of ulcerative colitis, presented with bleeding per rectum for 4 weeks' duration. Colonoscopy revealed polypoidal neoplasm at the rectosigmoid junction. Histopathology depicted small cell carcinoma. On immunohistochemical staining, chromogranin A and synaptophysin were positive. The tumour was diagnosed as undifferentiated small cell carcinoma, which is unusual since generally it is the adenocarcinoma that occurs on a background of ulcerative colitis and there are only three previous reports of small cell carcinoma occurring in UC.

A series of metastatic breast carcinoma (MBC) mimicking visceral well-differentiated neuroendocrine neoplasms has not previously been reported. We identified 5 consultation cases originally submitted as neuroendocrine neoplasms in women but that were found to be MBC on subsequent review. All definite cases of oncogenic osteomalacia have, until now, been classified as mesenchymal tumours. We report here a case of oncogenic osteomalacia caused by a spinal tumour. Microscopically, it resembled the mixed connective tissue variant of previously described phosphaturic tumours. Immunohistochemical studies, however, showed the tumour cells to be positive for low molecular weight cytokeratin (CAM 5.2), S100 protein, PGP 9.5, and synaptophysin. Electron microscopy demonstrated neurosecretory granules. The histopathological findings strongly suggest that this is a neuroendocrine tumour.

We present a case of the rare combination of unilateral ovarian leiomyoma, uterine leiomyoma, and goblet cell carcinoid tumor of the appendix in a premenopausal woman who presented with right iliac pain.
