The life of young girls and boys with congenital breast and thoracic malformations is more a matter of survival than of living, burdened by severe body image damage. Positively changing their lives is what these girls or young men are calling us to do. Our duty is certainly to understand their malformation, but also to understand its repercussions and thus to draw the most appropriate treatment. Schwannomas are the most common tumor of peripheral nerves. It comprises 1 to 2% of total thoracic tumor. Posterior mediastinum is the most common site in thorax. Hereby we are reporting two cases of schwannoma with different sites of origin. The classical presentation of schwannoma is an asymptomatic mass found on chest radiograph. This tumor is usually benign and slow growing. Imaging followed by histopathological examination is key to the diagnosis of this neoplasm. Resection of tumor cures the disease.

Liposarcoma arising in the mediastinum is extremely rare. Herein we present a case of a 47-year-old man with a huge posterior mediastinal tumor that extended to the bilateral thorax. The patient underwent a complete resection of the tumor and experienced an uneventful recovery. Postoperative pathology finally revealed liposarcoma. The patient underwent follow-up for 25 months, during which time no recurrence was found.

Thoracic ultrasound has a high significance in emergency medicine. In case of dyspnoea, it leads quickly and reliably to the causative disease. Especially in differentiating lobar pneumonia from cardiogenic pulmonary oedema and lung embolism, it may be used with good confidence. After thoracic trauma, most of the injuries can be detected with sonography: lung contusion, pleural effusion, pericardial effusion, pneumothorax, rib fractures and sternal fractures. In clinically unstable patients, vital decisions can be made based on sonographic results.
