The mediastinal lymph node tuberculous abscesses (MLNTAs) are secondary to mediastinal tuberculous lymphadenitis. Surgical excision is often required when cold abscesses form. BACKGROUND AND AIMS: The solitary pulmonary nodule (SPN) is a common clinical problem usually detected incidentally during screening tests for lung cancer. Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) is performed for diagnosing SPNs when there are technical difficulties with transthoracic needle aspiration biopsy or bronchoscopic biopsy, inconclusive biopsy results, or when there is a high suspicion of malignancy. The successful key of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for mediastinal tumor should be appropriate surgical approach according to the site of tumor and relationship between large vessels and tumor. We retrospectively reviewed VATS for mediastinal tumor for 2 years. A 78-year-old man referred to our hospital with the chief complaints of anorexia, general malaise, rash, and weight loss. Laboratory examination revealed pancytopenia, hyperglobulinemia, generalized adenopathy, and multiple pulmonary nodules. Video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) was performed to diagnose pulmonary nodules. After operation, it was difficult to achieve hemostasis for a while. Finally, the patient was diagnosed as pulmonary cryptococcosis and Evans syndrome.

A 57-year-old woman was admitted to JR Sapporo General Hospital with the complaint of dyspnea and palpitation following photogastroscopy. A chest roentgenogram revealed a simultaneous bilateral spontaneous pneumothorax. Video-assisted thoracoscopy demonstrated multiple holes and nodules at the top of the right diaphragm and a ruptured bulla in the left lower lobe. These abnormalities were successfully repaired in a single stage procedure using video-assisted thoracoscopy. This procedure is beneficial in the treatment of this rare condition.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the current status of postoperative kinesiophobia in patients undergoing video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and to identify its influencing factors.

A Müllerian duct cyst is a rare epithelial-lined cyst originating from remnants of the Müllerian (paramesonephric) duct. While these cysts are typically found along the lateral or posterior vaginal wall in females or near the prostate in males, posterior mediastinal occurrence is exceedingly rare. Accurate preoperative diagnosis is challenging, as imaging findings often resemble those of more common posterior mediastinal lesions such as neurogenic tumors or bronchogenic cysts.
