We report a case, showing a complete response to high-dose 5'-DFUR, with pulmonary metastasis from colon cancer. A 52-year-old male patient underwent right hemicolectomy for ascending colon cancer in August, 1991. A recurrence of colon cancer developed in the left lower lung 16 months after surgery, and 5'-DFUR was administered at a dose of 1,600 mg/body/day. Optic pathway glioma (OPG) is a rare tumor located in optic nerve, optic tract, or optic chiasm. Treatment options for OPG include surgery, radiation therapy (RT), and chemotherapy. Although RT may provide favorable long-term outcomes in manner of either adjuvant or salvage aim, chemotherapy-first approach is increasingly performed due to possible late effects of RT. A 58-year-old asymptomatic man was referred for investigation of an abnormal shadow on chest X-ray films. Chest computed tomography (CT) revealed an infiltrative shadow containing an air-bronchogram. Video-assisted thoracic surgery was performed for a lung biopsy of an abnormal region in the right upper lobe of the lung. Functioning pulmonary metastases are the most common distant lesions of differentiated thyroid cancer. About 50% of patients with such metastases die within 10 years. The impact of iodine-131 therapy is controversial. In this study we examined: (1) the early diagnostic value of post-surgery (131)I ablation for lung invasion and (2) the survival of patients receiving periodic (131)I therapy.
