BACKGROUND: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are associated with various pulmonary toxicities. Their impact on pre-existing asthma remains poorly characterized.
METHODS: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of adult cancer patients with pre-existing asthma who received at least one ICI dose. Asthma control before and after ICI therapy was assessed based on changes in asthma medications, exacerbations requiring systemic corticosteroids, and asthma-related hospitalizations. Poor asthma control was defined as worsening in any of these parameters following ICI initiation.

CONTEXT: Adrenal mast cells can stimulate aldosterone secretion through the local release of serotonin (5-HT) and activation of the 5-HT4 receptor (5-HT4). Osteoporosis is a major complication of Cushing's syndrome. The aim of the present study was to assess the chronologic effect of surgical cure on bone mineral density (BMD) in patients with Cushing's syndrome due to adrenal adenoma. BMD was examined in 28 patients before laparoscopic adrenalectomy; 17 patients with reduced BMD were then included in the longitudinal evaluation.
