OBJECTIVE: Despite the fact that narcolepsy is a chronic disorder affecting younger people, there is insufficient information about its societal burden, time course, and familiar effect. We aimed to estimate the factual direct and indirect costs of narcolepsy patients and their families in a national sample using a controlled study design.
PATIENTS/METHODS: Using records from the Danish National Patient Registry (1997-2009), all 816 narcolepsy patients and their partners were identified and compared with 3254 randomly chosen controls matched for age, gender, geographic area, and civil status.

BACKGROUND: The time window for measuring blood gases in the umbilical cord after birth is often discussed controversial with regard to birth damage claims.
METHODS: 53 umbilical cords from spontaneous deliveries at term were double clamped at room temperature directly after birth and paired arterial and venous samples were taken at 0,5, 10, 20, 40, 60 and 120 min. Arterial and venous blood gases [pH, pO₂, pCO₂, base-excess (BE)] were measured. Statistical analyses were performed with the t test and Wilcoxon test.

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to assess potential risk factors for Chlamydia trachomatis infection among users of an Internet-based testing service in Sweden.

OBJECTIVE: To examine the effects of unfairness on incident coronary events and health functioning.
DESIGN: Prospective cohort study. Unfairness, sociodemographics, established coronary risk factors (high serum cholesterol, hypertension, obesity, exercise, smoking and alcohol consumption) and other psychosocial work characteristics (job strain, effort-reward imbalance and organisational justice) were measured at baseline. Associations between unfairness and incident coronary events and health functioning were determined over an average follow-up of 10.9 years.
