BACKGROUND: There have been no objective criteria for classifying the periodontal biotype. The purpose of this study is to suggest clinical guidelines for discriminating the thin biotype, which might be susceptible to gingival recession, using statistical analyses based on the measurement of the dento-gingival complex on three-dimensional virtual models.

Paget's disease is a disorder of bone that results in the replacement of normal bone with highly vascularized, low density bone. The diminished bone quality associated with Paget's disease is a relative contraindication to the use of dental implants, as it interferes with achievement of osseointegration. There is no current literature on the success of dental implants in patients with Paget's disease. Furthermore, there is no current literature on dental implant success in patients with remissive Paget's disease or in bone that appears to be unaffected by the disease in patients with Paget's.

This article reports the treatment of lateral incisor agenesis in a young patient. Treatment was performed with a mini-implant and a temporary crown. Radiographic and clinical follow up for one year demonstrated a very satisfactory restoration with regard to function and esthetics as well as the stability of the mini-implant.
