In valve-sparing operations for aortic root aneurysms, the dilated aortic root is replaced by a vascular graft. However, cusp disorders remain in some cases. The possibility for remineralization of advanced root dentin lesions was investigated in vitro. Lesions were produced in acidic buffer solution with 0.1 and 0.5 ppm fluoride, for 3 and 5 weeks, respectively, using a single-section model. We studied whether interleukin-1 (IL-1) affects the release of arginine vasopressin (AVP) from the superfused hypothalamo-neurohypophyseal complex (HNC) of rats. Involvement of the cholinergic system in the mediation of IL-1 on AVP release from HNC was also examined. Both human recombinant IL-1 alpha and -1 beta elicited a rapid increase of AVP from HNC in a dose-dependent manner at concentrations ranging from 0.1 to 10 nM. Ten patients with disseminated testicular cancer were studied during 3 cycles of 20 mg/m2/day x 5 d CDDP combined with bleomycin and vinblastine or etoposide.
