Coccidioides immitis is the cause of coccidioidomycosis, the fungus has been found extensively in the Southwestern United States, and Mexico, and certain areas of Central and South America. Observation of 33 dogs exposed to Blastomyces dermatitidis over a 2 1/2 year period is reported. During the first 1 1/2 years six dogs died and 23 (77%) developed skin lesions. Clinical evidence of disease in all the animals then subsided and remained so through another year of observation. Nine animals were sacrificed after 120 weeks and several tissues were cultured from each one. Sera of 23 patients with Waldenström's macroglobulinaemia and six monoclonal IgM paraproteins, which had been isolated from these sera, were examined for reactivity against peripheral nerve tissue. We produced an autoimmune glomerulotubular nephropathy in Swiss-Webster mice using human glomerular antigen in Freund's complete adjuvant. About 50 per cent of guinea-pigs immunized with egg albumin possess strong antibody activity in an immunoglobulin class with antigenic properties different from those of the well-known guinea-pig immunoglobulins. Human syphilitic sera and BFP sera react with cardiolipin of intact rat liver and bovine heart mitochondria as evidenced by the absorption of the Wassermann antibody into mitochondria and by complement-fixation with diluted mitochondrial suspension. From January 1, 1967 to December 1971, the temporal pattern of respiratory syncytial virus infection was investigated in infants and children younger than 18 months hospitalized for acute lower respiratory tract disease. Of 4696 infants and children with acute lower respiratory tract disease admitted to the Cook County Hospital, 2530 were tested for virus infection by virus isolation or serologic procedures or both.
