De-Escalation of Broad-Spectrum and Last-Resort Antibiotics in Critically Ill Adults with Gram-Negative Infections: A Scoping Review and Evidence-Informed Framework for Tertiary-Care ICUs.

BACKGROUND: Early broad-spectrum empirical therapy is life-saving in critical illness, but its unnecessary continuation drives resistance, toxicity, and cost; antibiotic de-escalation is the principal stewardship strategy for resolving this tension, yet its evidence base is fragmented and its practice inconsistent. This scoping review mapped the evidence on the definitions, timing, eligibility, implementation, safety, and clinical, microbiological, and resistance outcomes of de-escalating cephalosporins, carbapenems, colistin, and tigecycline in critically ill adults with suspected or confirme

The influence of human population movement on mass drug administration for neglected tropical diseases: a scoping review.

BACKGROUND: Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), including but not limited to lymphatic filariasis, onchocerciasis, trachoma, schistosomiasis, and soil-transmitted helminths, remain a major public health challenge in Africa. Mass drug administration (MDA) is a key strategy for NTD control and elimination. However, mobile populations such as internally displaced persons (IDPs), nomadic groups, and seasonal workers often face major constraints that reduce MDA effectiveness defined by coverage. Understanding how mobility and its underlying drivers affect MDA implementation is therefore critical to

Health system interventions to floods and heatwaves for maternal and child health services: a realist-informed systematic review protocol.

INTRODUCTION: Floods and heatwaves are becoming more frequent and intense and can disrupt routine maternal and child health (MCH) services. Previous reviews have not systematically examined how context and mechanisms may shape adaptation outcomes. This realist-informed systematic review examines how, why and under what conditions interventions support access to, utilisation of and continuity of routine MCH services during flood and heat events. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: The search strategy was developed by integrating terms from 17 related reviews, refined with the author team and checked by an e

Use of Artificial Intelligence in Screening for Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis: A Scoping Review.

INTRODUCTION: Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) screening remains controversial, particularly regarding its effectiveness and cost-effectiveness in population settings. The Scoliosis Research Society - AIS screening (SRS-AIS) is simple, reliable, and widely accepted in clinical practice. With the emerging of artificial intelligence (AI) in medical screening, AI-based approaches have been proposed as potential alternatives. However, whether AI-AIS screening offers meaningful advantages over established SRS-AIS screening in real-world practice remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate th
