A modified innominate osteotomy was employed to treat postural imbalance by a hemipelvic lengthening in twenty patients, five to twenty years old. Diagnoses associated with the postural imbalance included acetabular dysplasia with ipsilateral femoral shortening, pure limb-length inequality, primary intrapelvic asymmetry, and decompensated scoliosis. The functionally low hemipelvis was lengthened as much as three centimeters by distraction at the osteotomy and insertion of a quadrangular bone graft. Construction is a hazardous industry, with slips, falls, and musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) among the most common occupational hazards. Safety boots are vital for reducing these risks and enhancing workers' comfort, mobility, and overall performance. Therefore, this study examines associations between winter safety boot features and construction workers' comfort, performance and mobility, slips, falls, and MSDs due to slips and falls. Previous studies and the International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot have described therapeutic footwear as a protective factor to reduce the risk of re-ulceration. BACKGROUND: Hallux rigidus (HR) is a common condition with history and physical examination used to help evaluate pathology, grade clinical changes and to inform treatment.
METHOD: A cross-sectional study was undertaken to evaluate the demographics of and clinical parameters encountered in HR. In 110 subjects (180 feet) aged 18-70 years (mean 52 years) a standardized history and physical examination was undertaken. Clinical parameters associated with HR were evaluated.
