Corneal wound healing is a complex biological process that integrates a host of different signals to coordinate cell behavior. BACKGROUND: To describe the efficacy of four-layer porcine small intestinal submucosa (Vetrix BioSIS plus+) as single scaffold for the treatment of deep corneal lesions in dogs and cats.
METHODS: 10 dogs and 3 cats with deep or full thickness corneal defects were treated surgically with BioSIS plus graft. Corneal transparency scores and vision were evaluated.
RESULTS: Lesions in dogs were four perforations, three descemetoceles, two limbal melanocytomas and one deep corneal ulcer. In cats, there were one limbal melanocytoma and two perforations. The average length of the follow-up was 86 day

OBJECTIVES: To report the benefits of genetic diagnosis in patients with retinoblastoma.
METHOD: Observational study. Patients with retinoblastoma and their families were included. Demographic and clinical data were recorded. Blood and tumour samples were obtained. Next generation sequencing was performed on the samples. When deletion 13 q syndrome was suspected, cytogenetics microarray was performed (Cytoscan® HD, Affymetrix, Santa Clara, CA, USA), with a high density chip of 1.9 million of non-polymorphic probes and 750 thousand SNP probes.

PURPOSE: To search for the cause of scleral thinning and pupillary distortion following trans-scleral contact diode laser cyclophotocoagulation (TCDLC).

Indoleamines are associated with circadian rhythms in pineal gland and retina. Because the ciliary epithelium has an embryonic origin similar to that of pineal gland and retina, and intraocular pressure shows circadian variations, indoleamines were searched for in aqueous humor and ciliary body in humans. PURPOSE: Uveal melanoma (UM) is a rare cancer with rising number of diagnosis (143 diagnoses in 1990 to 226 in 2023) in the Netherlands. Most patients are treated locally with Ruthenium-106 brachytherapy (±102/year).
