To gain a better understanding of the relationship between postoperative 5-fluorouracil administration and corneal complications associated with its use, we analysed 43 consecutive filtering procedures in which it had been employed. Nine of the 43 eyes had corneal complications during that period. At the end of the three-month period, these corneal complications had all resolved. Serum, aqueous humour, and lens ascorbic acid levels were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography in cataract-, closed-angle glaucoma-, and aphakic patients. The total number of 108 patients were subdivided into different groups. The retinal and corneal toxicity of fluorouracil in the rabbit eye after lensectomy and vitrectomy depended on both the dosage and the frequency of intraocular injection and was reversible at certain dosages. The influence of daltonism on painting was studied by Geothe. After a brief historical review, the methods employed are described. These included copying of paintings, critical analysis of paintings by color-blind subjects, and speculations on the history of art. The manner of painting of persons with daltonism depends upon the pictorial consequences of the dyschromatopsia, and the compensatory procedures employed: monochrome or polychrome. Acquired dyschromatopsia also affects painting. Daltonism influences esthetic taste and has to be taken into account during orientation of art students.

In a survey of 58 aphakic eyes examined 5 to 10 years after surgery, 12% had episcleral vessels in the inner aspect of the cataract incision and almost half of these eyes showed evidence of mild intraocular hemorrhage. Analysis of these and 33 other eyes indicates that argon laser treatment is only temporarily effective in preventing intraocular hemorrhage. Limbal cryotherapy is effective in a one- to four-year follow-up. While these vessels are a common cause of transient intraocular hemorrhage in aphakic eyes, serious sequelae are rare and treatment is usually unnecessary.

Three additional cases of keratolenticular adhesion and aniridia have been reported. A review of the embryology and terminology in the description of complex lesion of the anterior segment might suggest the more general phrase, anterior segment dysgenesis, to have advantage. In a series of 730 patients who underwent lens implant surgery, 44 (6%) had bilateral implants. Eighty-eight percent of these patients had at least one year's interval between operations and 50% more than two years. Surgery on the first eye resulted in vision of 20/40 or better in 86% of patients. Eighty-three percent of patients were 20/40 or better in the second eye following surgery. OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy and safety of using the adjustable flanged technique for secondary implantation of four-point scleral‑fixated posterior chamber intraocular lenses with two parallel 6-0 polyglactin sutures.
METHODS: Two parallel 6-0 polyglactin sutures were passed separately through the two haptics on the horizontal line of the 4-haptic IOL. PURPOSE: To determine the incidence and risk factors for glaucoma in pseudophakic and aphakic eyes following surgery for congenital cataract within the first year of life.
METHODS: We conducted a review of all cataract surgery performed at our unit over a 23-year period. Age at surgery, corneal diameter, intraocular lens implantation, presence of persistent foetal vasculature and visual axis opacification (VAO) were documented.
