PURPOSE: In a retrospective comparative analysis in patients undergoing primary guided-motion total knee arthroplasty (TKA), the authors have evaluated whether different TKA implant design would influence the clinical and functional outcomes.
METHODS: Between 2007 and 2009, 227 computer-assisted primary TKAs were performed in 219 consecutive patients. BACKGROUND: Recently, virtual reality computer simulators have been used to enhance traditional endoscopy teaching. Previous studies have demonstrated construct validity of these systems and transfer of virtual skills to the operating room. However, to date no simulator-training curricula have been designed and there is very little evidence on the impact of external feedback on acquisition of endoscopic skills. BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Stent systems for intracranial use are continuously improved. We report our initial experience using a new self-expanding easy-to-place nitinol stent (Enterprise) in the treatment of wide-neck intracranial aneurysms.

Recently rational drug therapy and potent technologies have been introduced for the treatment of the most frequent hair problems, i.e. finasteride in the treatment of male pattern hair loss, and laser-assisted hair removal systems for hypertrichosis and hirsutism. Together with the availability of such treatments, high technical standards for evaluating their efficacy have been developed, e.g. computer-assisted epiluminiscence microscopy. Besides these physical aspects, life quality has also become an important issue in clinical studies, and is assessed by standardized patient questionnaires.
