BACKGROUND: Considerable attention has been paid to perfluoroalkyl compounds (PFCs) because of their worldwide presence in humans, wildlife, and environment. A wide variety of toxicological effects is well supported in animals, including testicular toxicity and male infertility. PURPOSE: To evaluate outcomes of repeat pars plana vitrectomy for proliferative vitreoretinopathy after previous failed pars plana vitrectomy.
METHODS: This is a retrospective case series including 51 eyes of 50 patients who underwent repeat surgery after failed previous pars plana vitrectomy for proliferative vitreoretinopathy from 2000 to 2015 at the Kresge Eye Institute, Detroit, MI. Patients were classified into successful and unsuccessful groups. Success was defined as retinal reattachment, silicone oil removed, and best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) ≥5/200 at the final follow-up visit.

Seafood consumption is a major route for human exposure to environmental contaminants of emerging concern (CeCs). PURPOSE: To evaluate the long-term clinical efficacy and safety of gas tamponade combined with laser photocoagulation for optic disc pit maculopathy.
METHODS: Seven consecutive patients with unilateral maculopathy associated with optic disc pit and one patient with bilateral optic disc pit maculopathy were given octafluoropropane (C3F8) tamponade combined with focal laser photocoagulation treatment. Patients were followed up for 21-62 months after treatment. Main outcomes were determined by optical coherence tomography (OCT) and best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA).

In an attempt to allow physiologic expansion of the pulmonary autograft, yet limit late root dilation, we used stretch Gore-Tex material (W. L. Gore & Assoc, Flagstaff, AZ) as an external wrap.
