The mononuclear cobalt hydride complex [HCo(triphos)(PMe3)], in which triphos = PhP(CH2CH2PPh2)2, was synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystallography and by 1H and 31P NMR spectroscopy. Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is an autosomal-dominant neurocutaneous syndrome affecting various parts of the body, including the renovascular and urinary systems. Six patients who had suffered severe non-penetrating high velocity head injuries were investigated with phosphorus (31P) magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) to determine, non-invasively, long-term alteration in intracellular biochemistry.
