CASE REPORT: A 67-year-old woman with a 30-year history of dysthyroid orbitopathy and diplopia had an inadvertent injection of botulinum toxin type A into the vitreous cavity. Full pupil mydriasis and an intraocular pressure (IOP) of 50 mm Hg in the right eye were noted after the injection. An attack of acute angle closure was initially suspected despite a patent peripheral iridotomy (PI). The episode resolved with topical and intravenous IOP-lowering agents. BACKGROUND: To study the long-term efficacy and safety of diode laser cycloablation under a standard protocol in refractory glaucoma.
METHODS: A retrospective study involving 42 eyes (39 patients), observed for 36-84 (mean 65.7) months after cycloablation involving 14 burns of 2-W power and 2-s duration, over 270 degrees of the ciliary body.

Intramural pseudodiverticulosis of the esophagus is a rare benign disease of the esophageal wall, with dilation of the submucosal glands, and the predominant symptom is dysphagia. In the literature, 191 cases have been described so far. Along with a short review of the literature, the present report describes six cases of this disorder, including a patient in whom intramural pseudodiverticulosis of the esophagus was secondary to laser therapy and endoluminal afterloading of an esophageal squamous-cell carcinoma.

AIM: We sought to characterise the morphological and functional effects of drainage retinotomy on the vascular, neural, subretinal and epiretinal components of the affected retina.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Following successful retinal reattachment surgery involving drainage retinotomy in 15 cases (retinotomy group) and no retinotomy in 14 cases (control group), the existence, nature and quadrantic area of visual field loss to a white III4e target was determined using kinetic Goldmann perimetry. Laser surgery is currently considered as an effective alternative in the treatment of several urological diseases. We report on our three-year experience treating recurrent superficial low grade bladder carcinoma in 80 patients using Neodymium: YAG (Nd:YAG) laser. A decrease in local tumour recurrence rate (11%) was observed, but the overall not treated area recurrence was 45%. No complications were noted when the procedure was carried out on outpatient basis.
