Associations of the Zhejiang University (ZJU) index with reproductive outcomes in women with polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome: a post-hoc analysis.

PURPOSE: The Zhejiang University (ZJU) index is a novel composite metabolic score incorporating body mass index, fasting glucose, triglycerides, and the alanine aminotransferase/aspartate aminotransferase ratio. This study aimed to evaluate whether baseline ZJU index is associated with reproductive outcomes in women with polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS) undergoing fertility treatment. METHODS: This post-hoc analysis is based on the Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Acupuncture and Clomiphene Trial (PCOSAct). Participants were stratified into tertiles based on baseline ZJU index levels.

Auricular acupuncture for insomnia in female patients with non-metastatic breast cancer: study protocol for a multicenter, randomized, controlled clinical trial.

BACKGROUND: Breast cancer patients are at an increased risk of insomnia, which can lead to emotional disorders, reduced quality of life, and potentially higher cancer mortality. Auricular acupuncture (AA) offers a feasible treatment option due to its short procedure time, low technical complexity, and relative safety. However, while preliminary studies suggest potential benefits of AA for treating insomnia, the evidence for the population of breast cancer patients remains insufficient. METHODS: This study employs a multicenter single-blind, randomized, controlled trial. A total of 324 patient

Comparative effectiveness of multiple different non-pharmacologic interventions for post-stroke constipation: a Bayesian network meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: Post-stroke constipation (PSC) is a common complication among stroke patients, with a positive correlation to stroke severity. Straining during defecation in constipated patients can increase intracranial pressure, posing a high risk for secondary strokes, negatively impacting prognosis, disease progression, and contributing to the development of depression and anxiety. Non-pharmacological interventions (NPIs), including traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and rehabilitation approaches, have been explored due to challenges in advancing Western medical treatments. However, the optima

Electroacupuncture at ST36 increases contraction of the gastric antrum and improves the SCF/c-kit pathway in diabetic rats.

Electroacupuncture (EA) at ST36 is effective for improving gastric motility. However, the underlying mechanism remains poorly understood. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of EA on gastric contraction and to determine whether interstitial cells of Cajal (ICCs) are involved. Rats were randomized into control, diabetic (DM), diabetic with sham EA (DM + SEA), diabetic with low frequency EA (DM + LEA) and diabetic with high frequency EA (DM + HEA) groups. EA was performed everyday for four and eight weeks. Contractions in antrum strips were explored using the organ bath techniqu

TianJiu therapy for α-naphthyl isothiocyanate-induced intrahepatic cholestasis in rats treated with fresh Ranunculus sceleratus L.

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: TianJiu (TJ) therapy, one type of cold moxibustion, applies to specific acupuncture points with herbal patches of hot nature, providing a constant irritant to the skin until the presence of hyperemia and blistering. Traditional and clinical reports suggest that TJ is an effective therapy for the treatment of jaundice with fresh Ranunculus sceleratus L. (RS), in which protoanemonin is one of the main irritant constituents. However, the therapeutic effect of TJ treatment with fresh RS against intrahepatic cholestasis has not been studied in animal experiments. AI…
