PURPOSE: To investigate the clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes of macular retinal detachment (MRD) associated with intrachoroidal cavitation (ICC) in myopic patients.
METHODS: In this retrospective, consecutive, interventional case series, five patients with ICC and associated MRD were enrolled from January 2005 to December 2012. We describe a technique that uses a 23-gauge transconjunctival sutureless vitrectomy with perfluorocarbon liquid (PFCL) and phacoemulsification to manage a dropped nucleus. The PFCL is injected into the vitreous space until the dislocated lens reaches the iris plane and is then removed using phacoemulsification in the anterior chamber. PURPOSE: To examine the clinical performance of two brands of silicone-hydrogel lenses when worn on a daily wear basis.
METHODS: Fifty-six subjects with no ocular disease were enrolled at multiple sites in Australasia. Contact lenses made from galyfilcon A or lotrafilcon A were randomly assigned to each eye of the subject and the lenses were worn on a daily wear basis for a period of two weeks.
