[Evaluation of knee radiograms as criterion of femoro-tibial gonarthrosis development].

Within the context of the initiation of practising rheumatologists to the methodology and management of clinical trials, it seemed opportune … variability of the reading of the photograph of the gonarthrosis is high outside three parameters (osteophyte, degree of pinch and height of the spacing measured in millimetres) with an interclass correlation coefficient of 0.69, 0.71 and 0.69 respectively; 2) the radiographical examination data correlate only very partially with the clinical elements of th …

Nonresurfaced patella in total knee arthroplasty.

Problems attributable to the patellofemoral joint are still the major cause of disability in contemporary knee arthroplasty. Patellar resurf … cking be obtained at the time of knee arthroplasty by staged procedures, with removal of peripheral osteophytes, then proximal iliotibial tract release followed by lateral debulking to a marked degree to obtain neutral tracking. Only then will intracapsular lateral release be performed. The results presented support the use of the nonresurfaced patella, and …

Anterior cervical vertebrectomy and interbody fusion for multi-level spondylosis and ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament.

Multi-level cervical spondylosis and ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL) are well-documented causes of myelopathy. Th … 35 to 70 years. In all of our 45 patients, anterior vertebrectomy, discectomy, removal of posterior osteophytes and OPLL, and interbody fusion were done for progressive myelopathy refractory to conservative treatment. In 2 of 45 patients, 5 vertebral bodies were resected; in 3 patients, 4 vertebral bodies were resected; in 12 patients, 3 vertebral bodies wer …

Osteoarthrosis in a knee joint due to chronic posttraumatic insufficiency of the medial collateral ligament. Nine-year follow-up.

The purpose of the present study was to examine and describe the osteoarthrotic changes that chronic, partial or complete medial collateral ligament (MCL) insufficiency causes to the knee joint. Forty-eight patients with partial and 25 with complete, isolated rupture of the MCL had a clinical and radiological reexamination of the knee on an average of nine years after the injury. In both groups the posttraumatic osteoarthrotic changes caused by the MCL insufficiency occurred very frequently on the medial side of the knee. The most characteristic findings were osteophytes and subchondral sclero…

[Vestibular function in female transport workers with cervical osteochondrosis].

A complex study was carried out on the vestibular disorders in 60 transport workers with cervical osteochondrosis in order to determine thei … patients. Uncovertebral arthorosis, narrowing of the intervertebral foramina were found as well as osteophytes of the bodies of the vertebrae, etc. Those manifestations correlated with the vestibular disorders of the respective side, confirmed via rheography (bi- and fronto-mastoid). The vestibular deviations were reduced to dynamic ataxia - positive Romber …

Surgical approach to the whole length of the vertebral artery with special reference to the third portion.

A lateral route between the SCM and the lateral border of the internal jugular vein is defined from an anatomical study for exposure of the VA. It offers the simplest route for controlling any part or the whole length of the VA, including its intracranial portion. Surgical indications are discussed on the basis of our experience in eight cases with, in all cases, control of the VA in its third segment between C2 and the foramen magnum. Arteriovenous malformations are the most frequent indications; two cases were treated by direct approach and one by exclusion and anastomosis between the intern

Unusually mild course of beta-glucuronidase deficiency in two brothers (mucopolysaccharidosis VII).

Two brothers with oligosymptomatic mucopolysaccharidosis VII were observed from age 11 8/12 to 16 years, and 15 1/2 to 19 years, respectively. Asymptomatic thoracic kyphosis and mild scoliosis were the prominent clinical features. Herniae, hepatosplenomegaly, corneal clouding and shortness of stature were absent. Both had Alder type granulations in polymorphonuclear leukocytes and to a lesser degree in monocytes. Ultrastructural analysis of blood leukocytes revealed polymorphous inclusions of probably more than one class of organic substances. Radiological signs were mild, confined to the spin

PURPOSE: People who sustain joint injuries such as anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture often go on to develop post-traumatic osteoarthr … ne loss regardless of HLU or cage activity. HLU groups exhibited significantly reduced chondrophyte/osteophyte formation, OA scoring, and synovitis at day 42. Single-cell RNA sequencing revealed that 1 week of HLU resulted in more neutrophils and less monocytes-macrophages in the injured joint. CONCLUSIONS: This study establishes that 1 week of HLU after AC …

Age-associated regulation of chondrocyte hypertrophy in osteoarthritis: Mechanisms, therapeutic implications, and cartilage fate reprogramming.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a prevalent age-associated joint disease marked by progressive cartilage loss, subchondral bone remodeling, osteophyte formation, and low-grade inflammation. In OA, articular chondrocytes shift from a stable extracellular matrix (ECM)-maintaining state toward a hypertrophy-like program with increased collagen type X alpha 1 chain (COL10A1), runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2), and matrix metalloproteinase 13 (MMP-13), promoting ECM degradation, calcification, and pro-angiogenic remodeling. Ageing lowers the threshold for this conversion by reshaping stress respon…

Decoding imaging in ankle impingement: a comprehensive review.

Ankle impingement syndromes comprise a heterogeneous group of osseous and soft tissue pathologies caused by abnormal contact between articul … and image-guided intervention. Anterior impingement results from repetitive microtrauma leading to osteophyte formation and capsular fibrosis; radiography and CT depict osseous abnormalities, whereas MRI and ultrasound characterize associated soft tissue changes. Anterolateral impingement and anteromedial impingement are typically post-traumatic, with fibro …

Relationship between global muscle atrophy and sagittal imbalance in patients with degenerative lumbar scoliosis: a study based on three-dimensional reconstruction.

A 3D multi-task network for the automatic segmentation of CT images featuring hip osteoarthritis.

Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is the primary treatment for end-stage hip osteoarthritis, with successful outcomes depending on precise preoperative planning that requires accurate segmentation and reconstruction of periarticular bone of the hip joint. However, patients with hip osteoarthritis typically exhibit pathological characteristics, including joint space narrowing, femoroacetabular impingement, osteophyte formation. These changes present significant challenges for traditional manual or semi-automatic segmentation methods. To address these challenges, this study proposed a novel 3D UNet-b…
